Pro Tip for managing Stress in the Last Few Days Before Mains Feeling anxious in the final stretch before Mains is completely normal, remember, everyone else is feeling it too. 💯The key lies in clarity of goals for these last 5 days. 1️⃣With only 5 days to go, ideally focus on revising the GS and Essay papers now. Trust that the 5 days after GS-4 will be sufficient to revise your Optional. 2️⃣ While Ethics and Essay are high-scoring, spend minimal time revising them. Prioritise other GS papers where content recall matters more. 3️⃣ Best strategy: predict your own set of 40–50 possible questions for each GS paper using PYQs as a guide. Prepare and revise content, and mentally brainstorm intro–body–conclusion for each theme. 4️⃣ Revise important facts, committees, commissions, diagrams, and data that can enrich your GS answers.(you can refer to the MACs for each GS paper for doing so) 5️⃣ If you’ve worked consistently in the past 80 days, generating dimensions for any answer will now be much easier than recalling facts and data, so your focus should be doing that. 6️⃣ For the Essay paper you should focus on structuring as many essays on different themes based on PYQs. The key for Essay paper will lie in structuring one Essay in 15-20 minutes so you should practice that as much as possible. 7️⃣ For the Ethics paper, paper completition is always crucial, to ensure that you must focus on mastery over case study completions within 14.5 minutes. In order to ensure this, you should recall and revise your strategy and course of action+justification for different types of case studies.

Pro Tip for Mains Between a higher number of points and a smaller number of well-substantiated points, the former almost always scores better in most questions. Those who generate more points and cover more dimensions, more often than not, end up substantiating enough of them to score even better. Beginners tend to obsess over explaining a single point in 3-4 sentences. Experienced aspirants focus on covering more dimensions and generating a greater number of relevant points. Pro Tip for Mains Based on reviewing multiple hundreds of answers every day in the ongoing MIGs, here are a few recurring patterns. There are broadly three types of aspirants. First category These aspirants understand the demand of the question well. Their content and presentation are also good. However, answer structuring is the biggest issue. In GS-1 Society answers, Governance points are often written before Society dimensions. This can cost marks because the evaluator expects the core subject to be addressed first, while other dimensions should only supplement it. Another area of improvement is the introduction. Instead of starting with routine definitions, preparing scholarly definitions or viewpoints for static topics can make introductions much stronger. Connecting a well framed current linkage in static topics in news along with standard keywords makes the intro even better. Second category These aspirants understand the demand but lack interlinkages between dimensions. Presentation also needs improvement. For example, in the Regionalism question, around 6-7% candidates used a map of India despite writing similar content. They should also prioritise their strongest points first, especially those backed by examples, reports, committees or constitutional provisions. Third category These aspirants lack both adequate content and the other essential ingredients of good answers, such as structuring, presentation and value addition. The immediate priority should be building a strong content base along with practicing writing and improvement based on learning from better copies, evaluation and model answers. GS-3 MIG-26 starts on 24th July. Can text at @csetopper_helpline to reserve your seat at relevant discounts available till 23rd July.
