Earlier today, I had the pleasure of speaking to @FBI’s newest class of Special Agents alongside KashPatel_FBI and The Department of Justice is grateful for their service and will always have their backs. Congratulations to these men and women on this important achievement!
Congratulations to Will Scharf on his appointment as Assistant to the President and White House Counsel. Will has been my friend and partner for several years, and I look forward to working with him and his team. I also want to thank my good friend David Warrington for his outstanding service as White House Counsel. He is a warrior and true patriot. I wish them both continued success!
One year ago today, the Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force surge began in our nation’s capital at the direction of @POTUS. Since then, @TheJusticeDept and our law enforcement partners have made more than 16,000 arrests, taken thousands of illegal drugs and firearms off the streets, and have brought dangerous violent offenders to justice. In just one year, D.C. is safer than it has been in years, and we’re not done yet.
Grateful to lead the U.S. delegation in Colombia for the inauguration of President Abelardo De La Espriella. Yesterday was the start of a new friendship and partnership working as a team in the fight against drug trafficking and furthering our relationship in countering threats to our national security and public safety.
I am deeply honored by the trust and confidence President Trump has placed in me to lead the Department of Justice as our great nation’s 88th Attorney General. I am grateful to the Senate for staying late to complete this process. To the dedicated public servants of the Department of Justice, thank you for your work each day to uphold the law and keep our country safe. God bless America.

We appreciate the cooperative relationship we have with Leader Thune and Chairman Cotton, and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. There is no daylight here, and suggestions to the contrary are ill-informed. We look forward to continue working productively together.

My team and I have met with committee members and Senators over the past several weeks and addressed any concerns or outstanding questions. We have enjoyed good faith discussions, and as a result issue the following order and update with regard to the May IRS settlement. The Department always welcomes and appreciates productive engagement with all members of Congress.
Today, the convicted criminal who stalked and murdered Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, and attempted to shoot their daughter—was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences, plus a consecutive 40-year prison sentence. This murderer will spend the rest of his life behind bars for his heinous acts of violence against public servants and their families. This Justice Department will continue to hold accountable anyone who seeks to harm public officials and their families to the fullest extent of the law. Our hearts remain with the victims’ families, loved ones, and all those whose lives were forever changed by these horrific attacks.
It was an honor to fly over the National Mall with @NASAAdmin as part of America’s 250th celebration. Thank you to the men and women of @NASA for an unforgettable experience in tribute to our great nation. 🇺🇸
Today the Supreme Court upheld the Trump Administration’s clear authority to terminate Temporary Protected Status for hundreds of thousands of Haitian and Syrian nationals. The Department of Justice successfully defended the position that TPS was always meant to be temporary. This ruling rejects efforts to turn the program into a loophole abused by illegal aliens to remain in the United States. Proud of this department’s work to advance President Trump’s agenda of securing our borders and upholding the rule of law.
Happy Birthday, Mr. President @POTUS. It is an honor to serve under your leadership at @TheJusticeDept as we work every day to defend the Constitution, protect public safety, and Make America Safe Again. Wishing you a very happy birthday! 🇺🇸
Congratulations to my friend Jamie McDonald on his appointment by President Trump to lead SDNY. I thank Jay Clayton for his leadership of the Office and look forward to his continued service as Director of National Intelligence. We look forward to working with the judges as part of this process.
The Department hosted a powerful roundtable discussion today with @ASGWoodward @EDSecMcMahon @KashPatel_FBI @Jim_Jordan @GlennYoungkin and other key voices in the fight to expose the prior Administration's weaponization of government against parents. Former AG Garland’s October 2021 memo — issued in response to an NSBA letter which labeled parents as 'domestic terrorists’ — activated the FBI and U.S. Attorneys to intimidate parents speaking out at school board meetings. AG Bondi immediately rescinded it and we have taken steps to ensure this weaponization never happens again. This DOJ will always vigorously defend parental rights nationwide.

Today, alongside @DHSgov, @HHSGov, and @NDOHnews, the Department of Justice announced the indictments of three illegal aliens from Guatemala for their alleged roles in a conspiracy to smuggle more than a dozen children into the United States by exploiting the prior administration's open border policies. Additionally, we announced the sentencing of another illegal alien, also from Guatemala, who fraudulently sponsored and then sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl. Under @POTUS Trump's leadership, there is zero tolerance for those who traffic and exploit unaccompanied children. Under his leadership, our border is now secure, children are being protected, and those who seek to harm them will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Since taking office U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros has steadfastly advanced President Trump’s mission to make Chicago and Northern Illinois safe for the American people. In 2025, U.S. Attorney Boutros increased indictments by 34% from the prior administration, and so far in 2026, he has increased indictments by 61% from the prior administration. Notably, under his leadership, the U.S. Attorney’s Office charged a leader of the Sinaloa Cartel with providing material support to a Foreign Terrorist Organization and secured the guilty plea of Joaquin Guzman Lopez, the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel’s “El Chapitos” faction. His office also recently charged the illegal alien who allegedly killed an 18-year-old Loyola University student. This Department fully supports U.S. Attorney Boutros and his efforts to combat violent crime, drug trafficking, immigration violations, and fraud, and we look forward to more great work from his office.
