💻 OpenAI Releases Cybersecurity Model That Found Two Chrome Flaws OpenAI has launched GPT-5.6-Cyber, a specialized AI model designed to help cybersecurity defenders identify vulnerabilities before attackers can exploit them. The model answers up to 98.5% of security queries that would otherwise be blocked by standard AI safety filters, and has already uncovered two previously unknown vulnerabilities in Google Chrome. OpenAI says the window of opportunity for defenders is narrowing. Access to the model requires identity verification. Source

💡 Ever tried getting ChatGPT or Claude to help you understand an open-source project, only to spend 20 minutes copy-pasting files so it understands the context? There are tools that can make this much easier. Here are 3 free tools for working with GitHub repositories and AI coding assistants: 1️⃣ GitReverse — gitreverse.com What it does: Paste a public GitHub URL and generate a structured prompt describing the repository. Why use it: Give the generated context to Cursor, Claude, Copilot, or other AI assistants to understand, extend, debug, or contribute to a project faster. 2️⃣ DeepWiki — deepwiki.com What it does: Generates an interactive AI-powered wiki and documentation for a GitHub repository. Why use it: Explore a project's architecture, modules, and relationships without having to read through thousands of lines of code. 3️⃣ GitIngest — gitingest.com What it does: Converts a GitHub repository into a single, AI-friendly text/Markdown representation. Why use it: Useful when you want to provide an entire codebase as context to an LLM. You can also exclude unnecessary directories such as node_modules. If you're working with open source, learning a new codebase, or building with AI coding assistants, these are definitely worth checking out 😊. @CTBEsoftwareengineers

Hey everyone! Most software engineering and CS students tend to compare themselves to people who landed foreign remote jobs or launched startups and are already making good money. But the reality is: nobody makes it in a single step. Stop comparing your starting line to someone else’s finish line. Focus on learning while you search. Whether you’ve already graduated or are still working through your degree, here are the platform recommendations often passed down by seniors: Wellfound (wellfound.com) This is the go-to platform for startup jobs. Startups move fast and are often open to hiring students for part-time, flexible, or junior roles. It’s a great environment to get hands-on experience and learn how real-world products are built. Upwork(upwork.com) If you want to try freelancing, Upwork lets you bid on client contracts. It takes time and patience to land your first few gigs, but it allows you to take on smaller, manageable projects (like a quick frontend feature or a backend script) that fit around your class schedule. Turing(turing.com) Turing matches developers with global companies, but it is heavily skill-based and vetted. You'll need to pass their automated coding and tech-stack tests. If your algorithms, data structures, and core programming skills are sharp, it's a solid option to try. Remote OK / We Work Remotely These are standard tech job boards dedicated strictly to remote work. You can filter listings by "Junior" or "Internship" to find roles that align better with a student's experience level. If you're a beginner, it's okay, keep practicing until you're ready. And if you don't get a job right away, it's okay, keep applying until you make it!

  • 🍎 Last night, Apple briefly removed Telegram from the App Store because a single user had planted illegal pornographic content in a public group chat. ⬅️ Telegram was restored within hours. But I want to explain what happened — to warn other app developers and help protect online communities from similar attacks. 🧹Because Telegram quickly removes illegal content from public groups using user reports, AI filters, content hashes, and other moderation tools, the attacker had to resort to a technical trick. He inserted AI-modified illegal content by editing an old message in an active group chat. As a result, the content was effectively hidden from the group’s members, preventing them from seeing and promptly reporting it. 💰 The attacker was a takedown extortionist: someone who demands ransom from group owners in exchange for not targeting their communities. These extortionists use automated accounts to plant illegal content in public groups and then report it directly to Apple, attempting to trigger the removal of legitimate communities whose owners refused to pay them. 🤝 From a practical standpoint, illegal pornographic content in Telegram’s public groups is not a systemic problem. Our moderation is effective. The fact that attackers must resort to backdated, effectively invisible content and other technical tricks proves this. ⚠️ However, there are two important lessons here for app developers and online communities: — Extortionists have found a way to manipulate Apple into overreacting. Apple removed Telegram from the App Store before contacting us. This creates a potential systemic risk for every mobile app that hosts user-generated content. If an app used by more than a billion people can be removed from the App Store without prior warning, any app can be. — The tactics used by takedown extortionists are evolving, putting communities across social platforms at risk. Telegram has extensive experience identifying the tricks used by coordinated reporting gangs and protecting legitimate communities (even when doing so risks our own app being temporarily removed from the App Store). Other platforms may not be equally prepared. Stay vigilant! ☝️

💡 Stop explaining GitHub repositories to AI manually. Paste any public GitHub repository into GitReverse and instantly generate a structured prompt you can use with ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini, Cursor, or other coding assistants to understand, extend, or contribute to the project much faster. 💙 Quick tip on video
