Migraine is often described as a headache disorder, but for many people it affects much more than pain. Migraine can involve sensory sensitivity, fatigue, mood changes, and cognitive symptoms, often described as “brain fog,” slowed thinking, trouble concentrating, or forgetfulness. These symptoms can interfere with work, school, family life, and daily self-management, but they are also hard to study. A clinic visit captures only one moment in time, and questionnaires often ask people to summarize weeks or months of symptoms from memory, which is prone to recall bias and can miss the way migraine changes from day to day, or even within the same day. The Migraine Impact on Neurocognitive Dynamics (MIND) Study, was designed to close that knowledge gap. MIND is a smartphone-based observational study that follows adults with migraine in real-world settings in which participants complete brief ecological momentary assessments, or EMA, along with mobile cognitive tasks. 🆔️@BioinformaticsCollege

🧬 Can your APOE type affect how your brain cells age? A new study in Nature Medicine suggests that APOE may influence the biological aging of specific cell types linked to brain health. Researchers analyzed 7,000+ blood proteins from more than 60,000 people and found that blood-based protein patterns can estimate how “old” different cell types appear biologically. 🔹 APOE4 carriers tended to have older astrocytes 🔹 APOE2 carriers showed the opposite pattern 🔹 Older astrocytes were linked to higher future Alzheimer’s disease risk 🔹 APOE4 homozygotes with older astrocytes had about 3× higher AD risk over 15 years Astrocytes are important support cells in the brain, helping maintain neuronal health.
