[From Paris to Parliament] The Paris Olympics and Paralympics wrapped up a few weeks ago. But the inspiring stories of how Team Singapore athletes competed with the world’s best on the biggest arena, with courage, resilience and a deep desire to excel for Singapore, lives on. We will take the experience and lessons from the Paris campaign, build on what we have achieved, and push on. The planning for Los Angeles 2028 and Melbourne 2032 has started! Next month, at the October sitting of Parliament, we will honour our Olympians and Paralympians who have represented Singapore with such distinction in Paris. MCCY will propose a motion to congratulate all our athletes, in particular, our medallists, Jeralyn Tan, Maximilian Maeder and Yip Pin Xiu, for their achievements at the Games. Our athletes will be invited to attend Parliament. We would also like to invite to this session some of our athletes’ families and coaches : they are the invaluable team behind the team, who have been steadfast in their support and unstinting in their passion for Team Singapore. Their support has meant everything to us. Looking forward to a good session in Parliament!

[Together in Unity and Hope] It was fitting that His Holiness’ last engagement before going back to Rome was with a group of inter-faith youths in Singapore. These bright young leaders represent Singapore’s future. It was indeed a special day for our students of Catholic Junior College and over 50 schools – His Holiness the Pope sat down with our young people for a truly inspiring dialogue, delivering his remarks off the cuff, unscripted and in a very direct and real manner. Take risks, His Holiness says. Doing something and risk being wrong is much better than doing nothing and risking no wrong. Be constructive in criticism, and never shy away from being bridges of peace. Underscoring the values of inter-faith culture in Singapore, His Holiness also reinforced the message of respect for all faiths, and not arguing over which religion is better, but seeing each other as brothers and sisters. These are wise words in an often troubled and divided time for the world. Fostering racial and religious harmony has become more important than ever, and it must include our young. His Holiness exalted our youths to live out these virtues, and pass them down for generations to come. These are words which will resonate with our youths for years to come. Let’s continue to talk, listen, and learn from one another. Together, we can build a more united and peaceful future. 🇸🇬❤️
