  • All You Need to Know About Jumu’ah (Friday) 1. The Messenger of Allāh (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said: Verily, Allah has made this day (of Friday) a celebration for the Muslims. So whoever comes to Friday (prayer), then let him bathe himself, and if he has any perfume let him put some on, and use the toothstick. [Reported by Ibn Majah 1098 and Saheeh at-Targheeb 1/298] 2. Shaykh Saalih ibn Fawzaan (hafidhahullah) was asked: What is the ruling on sending text messages every Friday and ending with the phrase “Jumah Mubarak”?  He replied:  The early generation did not congratulate one another on Fridays (did not say Jumu’ah Mubarak to each other) so we should not introduce anything that they did not do. [Shaykh Saalih ibn Fawzaan (hafidhahullah), Ajwabat As’ilah Majallat al-Da‘wah al-Islamiyyah] 3. Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said: The Friday prayer is from the greatest of congregations of the Muslims. [Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah), Zaad al-Ma’aad, 1/364-365] 4. The Messenger of Allāh (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said: Increase in salutations upon me, on the day of Friday (Jumu'ah) and its night (from Thursday after Maghrib). [Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah), Zaad al-Ma’aad, 2/420] 5. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) reported to have said: The best of prayers with Allāh is the prayer of morning (Fajr) on the Day of Friday in congregation. [as-Saheehah, 1566] 6. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said: Whoever reads Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays will be adorned with light from that Friday to the next. [Saheeh Jami’ as-Sagheer, 2/6470] ‎7. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said: Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will have a light for him between this Friday and the next. ‎ [as-Sunan al-Kubra, 5856] 8. The Messenger of Allāh (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said: Send prayer upon me abundantly on the day of Jumu’ah (Friday) & on the night of Jumu’ah (Thursday night) for he who sends prayer upon me one time, Allāh sends prayer upon him 10 times. [Saheeh aj-Jami’, 1209] 9. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said: There is such an hour on Friday, that if any Muslim makes Du’ā during it, his Du’ā will be accepted. [Saheeh al-Bukhari, 5295, Saheeh Muslim 852] 10. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said: Whoever performs Ghusl on Friday, and bathes completely, and goes early, arriving early, gets close and listens and is silent, there will be for him in every step he takes, the reward of a year of fasting and standing (in prayer). [Jami’ at-Tirmidhiy, 496] 11. Prophet Muḥammad (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said: Jummah to Jummah expiates the minor sins in between them except for the major sins. [Silsilah as-Saheehah, 3623] 12. The Prophet of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) said: The best of days with Allāh is the day of Jumu'ah. [Saheeh aj-Jami’, 1098, as-Silsilah as-Saheehah, 1502] 13. Imām Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said: A time when Du’ās will be accepted is during the last hour of ‘Asr on Jumu’ah. [Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah), Zaad al-Ma’aad, 1/104] 14. Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said: The Hour of Response in it (i.e., Friday) is like the Night of Decree in Ramadaan. [Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah), Zaad al-Ma’ad, 1/893] 15. Sa'id bin Jubayr (radiyAllahu ‘anh) said: That I hit whips on my head, it is more beloved to me, than me talking whilst the Imām is giving a sermon. [Tabaqaat Ibn Sa’d, 6/260] 16. Imam Shafi’ee (rahimahullah) used to say, I love to send plenty of salat (salutations) upon the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ʿalayhi wa ’aalihi wa sallam) all the time and I love it more so on the day of Jumu’ah. [Kitabul Umm, ash-Shafe’e (rahimahullah), 1/546]

  • As-Salat Wa Salam Upon The Prophet Of Islaam al-Hafidh Emaad ad-Deen Isma’eel Ibn Katheer¹ [D.774A.H.] [رحمه الله] said in his Tafseer regarding the saying of Allaah [تعالى]: ‎﴿إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِيِّۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيۡهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمًا﴾‏ «Allaah sends His Salât [Graces, Honours, Blessings, Mercy, etc.] on the Prophet and also His Angels too [ask Allaah to bless and forgive him]. O you who believe! Send your Salât on [ask Allaah to bless] him, and [you should] send Salam upon him.» [Soorah Ahzab: 56] Ibn Katheer [رحمه الله] said in his Tafseer: ❝The meaning of this Ayaah is: that Allaah [سبحانه و تعالى] informed His worshippers of the status of His slave and His Prophet with Him in the high gathering [Angels], in that Allaah [سبحانه و تعالى] praises the Prophet in the high gathering of the Angels that are close to Him. Also, that the Angels pray for the Prophet [ﷺ], then Allaah [تعالى] ordered the people of the lower world to send as-Salat Wa Salam upon the Prophet, so that the praise of those of the high world and lower world are combined.❞ [Tafseer al-Qur’aan al-Atheem By al-Hafidh Ibn Katheer, (3/663)]

  • Giving Charity on Fridays Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: Giving charity on Friday has a special merit compared to other days, just as giving charity during the month of Ramadan has a higher merit compared to the rest of the year. I witnessed Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله when he would go out for Jumuaah, he would take whatever he found at home—be it bread or anything else—and give it as charity in secret on his way. I heard him say: “If Allāh commanded us to give charity before consulting with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ (58:12), then giving charity before consulting with Allāh is even more virtuous and deserving of merit” [Zaad al-Maad, 1/399] Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: "If the one giving charity knew that his charity landed in the Hand of Allāh before the hand of the poor person (48:10), the pleasure of the giver would be greater than the pleasure of the receiver." [al-Madarij as-Salikeen, 1/26]

  • FRIDAY يوم الجمعة • The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Everyone who invokes a blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah." [Sahih Muslim 384] • The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The five (daily) prayers and from one Friday prayer to the (next) Friday prayer, and from Ramadan to Ramadan are expiations for the (sins) committed in between (their intervals) provided one shuns the major sins." [Sahih Muslim 233] • Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: "He who performed ablution well then came to Friday prayer, listened (to the sermon), kept silent, all (his sins) between that time and the next Friday would be forgiven with three days extra." [Sahih Muslim 857] • The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "On Friday, there is an hour when, if a Muslim happens to pray at that time and ask Alläh for something good, He will give it to him." [Sahih Muslim 852]

  • If you want Allah to bless you ten times, remove ten of your sins, and elevate you ten degrees, send blessings upon the Prophet ‎ﷺ once. If you want Allah to bless you a hundred times, remove a hundred of your sins, and elevate you a hundred degrees, send blessings upon the Prophet ‎ﷺ ten times. And so on, whenever you send blessings upon him ‎ﷺ, multiply it by ten without any limit. The Prophet ‎ﷺ said: “Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will bless him ten times, remove ten of his sins, and elevate him ten degrees.” And this is not specific to Fridays, but on Fridays, it is more virtuous.

  • Prophet ﷺ said: “If one of you yawns on Friday (during the Khutbah), let him change from the place he’s sitting to another.” ‎● [صحيح بن خزيمة : مختصر المختصر من المسند الصحيح ١٨١٩]

  • The Prophet ‎ﷺ said "'When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba.' Sahih al-Bukhari 929

  • ‘Imam Zayn al-Abidin said: “The sign of ‘Ahl as-Sunnah is sending abundant Salat upon the Messenger of Allah” al-Durr al-Mandhūd

  • The Messenger of Allah‌‎ صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Verily, the best of your days is Friday. on it Adam was created, on it he died, on it the trumpet will be blown, and on it the shout will be made. Thus, increases in sending blessings upon me, for indeed your blessings are presented to me.” Sunan Abi‌ Da‌wu‌d 1047 | Graded Sahih

  • Don’t speak during the Khutbah The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم sat on the minbar and addressed the people, and he recited a verse. Ubayy ibn Ka’b was next to me, so I said to him: “O Ubayy, when was this verse revealed?” But he refused to speak to me, so I asked him again and he refused to speak to me, until the Prophet ‎صلى الله عليه وسلم came down (from the minbar). Then Ubayy said to me: “You have gained nothing from your Jumu’ah except idle talk.” When the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم had finished (the prayer), I went to him and told him (what had happened). He said: “Ubayy was right. When you hear your imam speaking, then keep quiet and listen attentively until he has finished.” Ahmad, 20780; Ibn Maajah, 1111 - Sahih

  • Friday strengthens your heart throughout the week, so do not waste its strength by neglecting it, otherwise your heart will become sick and die. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever missed three Fridays out of negligence, Allaah will place a seal over his heart." Sunan an-Nasa'i 1369

  • Friday Is the Day for Du‘a The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Jumu‘ah is comprised of 12 portions of time. There is one in which a Muslim who asks Allah for something will have it granted to him. Seek it in the last period after ʿAṣr.” (Abū Dāwūd) The attack against our brothers and sisters in #Gaza continues. • Raise your hands and beg Allah to help the Muslims. • Pray against the oppressors and those who assist them. • Ask Allah like the one who knows that Allah is All-Powerful. Do not underestimate the power of du‘ā'.

Sheikh Muhammad Sa’eed Raslan حفظه الله - said: ⚠️ Among the etiquettes of Friday: 📌 Making abundant supplications on Friday, hoping to coincide with the hour of acceptance; - Based on the hadith of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: Abu al-Qasim, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is an hour on Friday during which no Muslim servant stands and prays, asking Allah for good, except that He gives it to him." Agreed upon. And his saying: "stands and prays" means: supplicates; because the prevailing opinion among the scholars is that the hour of acceptance on Friday is the last hour after Asr, and this time is disliked for prayer. Therefore, it is appropriate for a Muslim servant to make abundant supplications during all the hours of Friday, hoping to coincide with this time. If a person had a need from someone, he would not find it too much to stand at his door if he was certain or thought that his need would be fulfilled. How then for one who asks from the Lord of Lords, the Owner of generosity, gifts, and bounties, who says to a thing: Be, and it is? Would a person find it too much to stand at his Lord's door, asking Him for his need during an hour specified by his Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who informed that Allah, blessed and exalted, does not ask Him for good during it except that He gives it? We seek refuge in Allah, blessed and exalted, from failure, and we ask Him for success. 📚 Explanation of 'Umdat al-Ahkam - Book of Prayer.
