🚩Hamas Agrees on Disarmament Draft Hamas and Palestinian factions agreed to a draft agreement controlling weapons of the resistance in Gaza. The draft includes the gradual and phased inventorying and storage of weapons as part of implementing the “Peace Plan”. According to Al Jazeera, a timetable for implementing the process will be prepared within 14 days (with a possibility of extending the deadline). The draft also states that the National Committee will be the sole authority permitted to possess, store, or control weapons in Gaza and emphasizes that no weapons will be transferred or handed over to Israel or to any non-Palestinian parties. Participation from Palestinian resistance factions will be overseen & verified by the International Verification Committee with support from the International Stabilization Force. Hamas says it will not take any steps to disarm before Israel withdraws from Gaza and fulfill their commitments under the deal. * This agreement is still developing and details might later change.

Hamas announced it’d end its governing of Gaza after 19 years. Last week, Hamas declared it was ready to transfer civilian governance to the transitional Palestinian technocratic body, the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), under the US-backed “ceasefire” framework + UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which impose the framework for Gaza's “post-war transition.” 🇪🇬 (NCAG members are currently based in Cairo, as Israel bars them from entering Gaza) 🏛️ Hamas says its bureaucratic civil servants will remain to ensure the continuity of public services, while Hamas will continue to oversee security and policing in parts of Gaza. 🪖 The announcement did not include any commitment by Hamas to disarm its military wing. 😡 Israel claimed this is a “trick” designed to allow Hamas to keep its military wing, as the move shifts pressure back onto Israel in the “ceasefire” process. The US-backed “Board of Peace” welcomed progress as long as it led to real change in authority.
