During the Combined Resolve military exercise in Germany, Ukrainian drone operators faced U.S. troops in a simulated battlefield confrontation. According to The Wall Street Journal, Ukrainian drone units quickly detected U.S. positions and armored vehicles and simulated destroying them during the exercise. Reports indicate that Russia's Orsk refinery has completely halted operations after a successful Ukrainian strike. Authorities acknowledge that repairs will take at least 6 months due to reliance on imported equipment and are bracing for the worst. Fuel is planned to be brought in "from the outside," as only 80% of gas stations are currently operational.

The Security Service of Ukraine exposed an agent network of the Russian GRU consisting of 14 people who were "hunting" for Ukrainian F-16 and Mirage-2000 aircraft. Russian agents photographed Ukrainian airfields, military planes, crews, and maintenance personnel, passing the information to their Russian handler.

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty published new satellite imagery of the aftermath of the strike on the Wildberries warehouse in Russia's Voronezh region following a Ukrainian Armed Forces drone attack on August 11: nearly 70,000 square meters burned down.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that Russia has stockpiled 6,200+ "Geran" drones ahead of winter. Massed combined strikes could involve 600-1,000 drones against Ukraine, whereas during force-accumulation periods, the Russian Armed Forces launch around 150–200 UAVs per attack.

Another exchange of fallen soldiers has taken place. Russia returned the bodies of 261 fallen Ukrainian soldiers, while Ukraine has returned the bodies of 24 fallen Russian soldiers.

When overlaying this on a topographic map, we can see that Prykolotne is situated on one of the highest points of the tactical heights, overlooking the surrounding low-lying ground near the international border. Not only is it a crucial logistical hub, but it also serves as key tactical highpoint. Although, if Ukraine withdraws from the areas north of it before the town falls, its worth as a logistical point will be significant diminished until Russia can capture it and transform it into their own logistical hub.

The situation for Ukraine in northeastern Kharkiv Oblast is reaching a critical point... Russian forces have continued their new cross-border offensive operations, which seem to be aimed at encircling a large Ukrainian grouping in the northeastern corner of Kharkiv Oblast. As a result of recent advances, they captured the villages of Artilne, Ustynivka, Ivashchyne, Anyshchyne, Shevyakivka, Zybyne, Karaichne, Vilcha, Lyman, and Volokhivka, and are now engaged in fighting for Volokhivske, Zakharivka, Ivanivka, Vasylivka, Vodyane, Vilkhuvatka, Dovzhanka, and Kupyne. Forward assault groups from the two pincers are currently just 8 km from cutting off the large Ukrainian salient. However, the main target of this offensive may be the town of Prykolotne, which hosts the main highway intersection, and is responsible for most logistics in this sector. It's fall would make defending the Bilya Kolodyaz direction much more difficult. Currently, a large grey-zone remains in many areas, and there is still an opportunity for Ukraine to stabilise the situation. But, if nothing is done soon, they may be forced to withdraw from this large salient to avoid being encircled. Over a year ago, I outlined this area as having potential for unusually large Russian advances. And it appears we may be seeing this materialise now.

Situation on the Druzhkivka direction, Donetsk Oblast: Over the last few weeks, Russian forces have significantly intensified their assault operations southwest of Druzhkivka, capturing seven different villages. In the west, Russian forces captured the tactical heights north of Toretske after months of fighting. This, combined with the clearance of the remaining northern part of the village, allowed Russia to break through Ukrainian defences on the heights to the north and capture large swaths of the forested gullies south of Hruzka River. To the east, Russian forces cleared the villages of Novopavlivka and Pavlivka, which were previously in the grey-zone, and used them to advance further north up the eastern bank of the Kazenyi Torets River. They were able to village hop, capturing Pryyut, Torske, and then Toretske, before infiltrating east into the villages of Petrivka and Raiske. Additionally, some assault groups crossed the Kazenyi Torets River and captured Krasnyi Kut. To the southeast, Ukrainian forces counterattacked, recapturing a number of treeline positions in the direction of the Poltavka River. Situation on the Dobropillya direction, Donetsk Oblast: Over the last three weeks, the situation has sharply deteriorated for Ukraine, as Russia makes a series of tactical breakthroughs into one of the strongest parts of the frontline. In the southwest, Russian forces continued clearing the salient west of Hryshyne, advancing further west north of the highway. Other assault groups advanced south of Myrne, entrenching in the forested gulleys, and infiltrating further west along the southern bank of the Hryshnka River. To the northeast, the Russians improved their positions north and northeast of Vasylivka, continued fighting for Myrne, and captured a large number of treeline positions southwest of Shevchenko. Some infiltrators have managed to reach the southern approaches to Novohryshyne and Matyasheve. To the east, Russian forces captured the former Zaporizhka Mine west of Rodynske and captured a large number of treelines to the northwest. This has allowed them to capture the main part of Shevchenko and begin infiltrating north towards Vodyanske. These attacks are being carried out in coordination with a large-scale operation from the east, which has resulted in Russia breaking through Ukraine's main defences east of Svitle, and gaining a foothold in the northeastern part of the town. Heavy fighting is now underway for Svitle and neighbouring Vodyanske, where the grey-zone has been significantly expanded. Additionally, some Russian soldiers are infiltrating north into the villages of Chernihivka and further west from there into Krasnopodillya. To the northeast, Russian forces cleared the fields east, northeast, and southeast of Bilytske, before entering and capturing the majority of the city. From there, they are attempting to capture the Bilytska Mine and support operations in Chernihivka from the east. Fighting continues with some partially-isolated Ukrainian formations in the southwestern part of Bilytske. To the north, the Russians captured the main Ukrainian strongpoint in the railway line south of Novyi Donbas after weeks of fighting, and pushed further. They then captured Novyi Donbas itself and began infiltrating west to the eastern outskirts of Dobropillya. Heavy fighting is also underway for the Hannivka area after Russian forces captured the dachas on the eastern outskirts of the village. Other Russian assault groups are attempting to push north to capture the tactical heights south of Stepy. To the east, Russian forces recaptured the dachas northeast of Nove Shakhove and advanced north up the forested gulley, while other forces attempt to capture Vilne and the positions east of the village. Situation on the Novopavlivka direction, Dnipropetrovsk/Donetsk Oblast: Over the last two weeks, heavy fighting has persisted along the Donetsk-Dnipropetrovsk border, with both Russian and Ukrainian forces making new advances. In the south, Ukrainian forces recaptured the village of Muravka, pushing the Russians back to the fields south of the settlement. Other assault groups cleared a number of treeline positions east and southeast of Novomykolaivka. To the north, Russian forces improved their positions in the low-lying ground west of the regional border, with some soldiers infiltrating up to a fortified strongpoint northeast of Biliakivka and treeline positions further north. Other assault groups improved their positions south of the railway line. Heavy fighting also continues for the railway line southwest of Novopidhorodnie, while some Russian soldiers continue infiltration attempts through the fields west of the town. + ~5.98 km² in favour of Ukraine. + ~2.06 km² in favour of Russia.
