Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Chairs a Meeting of the Air Defence Command ••••• Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi chaired today, Sunday, a meeting of the Air Defence Command, attended by the Director of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Chief of Staff of the Army. During the meeting, the plan for building and developing the capabilities of the Air Defence Command and enhancing its readiness was discussed, in a manner that ensures the protection of Iraqi airspace and achieves sovereignty. The meeting also discussed contracts concluded with foreign companies to equip the Air Defence Command with advanced specialized systems, with emphasis on expediting the execution and delivery under these contracts, thereby contributing to completing the air defence system and enhancing its capabilities to monitor and control Iraqi airspace. ••••• Media Office of the Prime Minister August 16, 2026

May Allah have mercy on the late Dr. Al-Qasab, the distinguished artist and professor, and grant his family, loved ones, and the artistic and cultural communities patience and solace. Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Receives Italian Ambassador to Iraq ••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi received today, Sunday, the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Iraq, Niccolò Fontana. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to further develop their partnership across various fields. The Prime Minister affirmed that Iraq seeks to expand its economic engagement with Italy and other European Union countries and benefit from the advanced technological expertise of Italian companies across various fields, particularly in the energy, agriculture, and industrial sectors. He renewed his invitation to Italian companies to contribute to Iraq’s comprehensive development efforts. Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Receives a Group of Wounded Popular Mobilization Forces Service Members ••••• Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi received today, Saturday, a group of wounded service members of the Popular Mobilization Forces. The Prime Minister commended the heroism and sacrifices of the Popular Mobilization Forces fighters, alongside the other branches and formations of the Iraqi Armed Forces, in defeating terrorism and liberating Iraqi territory from terrorist groups. He affirmed the government’s commitment to caring for the wounded and the families of martyrs and to ensuring all their rights.
