My Notebook 📓 Here is how we define structural invalidation and establish clear, non-negotiable rules for Stop Loss adjustments to prevent getting caught in the classic Smart Money Concepts (SMC) stop-hunt. 1. Defining Technical "Invalidation" A trade is only invalid when the underlying market narrative is proven wrong. If you are buying a bullish displacement (Market Structure Shift/MSS): The Trap: Placing your SL right at or 1–2 pips below the Fair Value Gap (FVG) or the Order Block (OB). Algorithms often "reach" deep into an OB to clear early buyers before expanding. The Invalidation Point: The absolute swing low that created the displacement. If price breaks below that structural low, the bullish idea is officially dead. How we get 15-20pips of breathing space: We do not enter early. If the distance between your entry FVG/OB and the invalidation swing low is 30 pips, you do not take the trade. You only pull the trigger when price retraces deep enough into the premium/discount zone so that the distance to the invalidation low is exactly 15 to 20 pips. This forces you to get the absolute best discounted entries.
