JUNE is men's mental health month. I believe suicides in Ethiopia will sharply increase in the following years, our technology fueling isolation without having proper awareness and support system the west has will lead to horrible consequences. I don't think most ethiopians gasp the complexity of mental issues, they will "qoften bel" their loved one to their death. Since there is a huge wealth gap, with most of population being in poverty, we all grown up on the idea that everyone depressed is because theyre poor, and everyone whos not poor shouldn't be depressed because someone else is having it worse. I frankly don't know what's the right way to prevent this future, but Ask your friends how their doing, beyond the surface level "how is work" "how is uni" Ask them how theyre handling it Ask them if its affecting other things Have deeper conversations, "Men will be bestfriend for 15 year and will not know eachothers birthday 😂" led to men accounting to 80% of suicides. Try to be a safespace for your friends Don't joke about things you shouldn't because "theyre men they can take it" Its the little things that could save someone's life
