🇮🇷 Built to survive: Why biggest US bomb CAN’T CRACK Iran’s nuclear bunkers💥 A mix of physics, engineering limits and battlefield realities suggest that the US GBU-57 bunker-buster bomb would fail to destroy Iran’s deeply buried nuclear sites. 📌Buried deep, built to last 🌏Sitting an estimated 80 to 90 meters underground in the mountains near Qom, central Iran, the Fordow uranium enrichment facility is shielded by layer upon layer of rock and reinforced concrete. 🌏The GBU-57's penetration maxes out at around 60 meters, and there’s no proof it can go deeper, former US intelligence officer Matthew Shoemaker has warned. 🌏Taking out Fordow would likely require dropping multiple GBU-57s in precise succession, hammering the same spot to "drill" through the mountain under which the facility is built. But even then, Fordow’s core components like its uranium-spinning centrifuges are spread across multiple chambers. 👉That means even a well-placed barrage might fail. 📌Big bomb, big problems Weighing in at 13.6 METRIC TONS, the GBU-57 is so heavy that only the stealthy B-2 Spirit can carry it – and the US has just 19 of those strategic bombers in service. A B-2 launch from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri or Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean would require a 15 hour-plus flight, inflight refueling, and, because the GBU-57 is not a standoff weapon that can be launched from a safe distance, the risk of being spotted and shot down. 📌Collateral risks The IAEA confirms Fordow is enriching uranium to 60%. A direct hit could scatter radioactive material like nuclear fallout. 📌Heavily guarded skies Iran’s nuclear sites are ringed with multilayered air-defense systems ready to target incoming bombers. The country has already also proven that it can hit back with drones and missiles, with retaliation putting US ships and bases in the crosshairs. 📌Still untested The GBU-57 has never been used in real combat, so questions remain about whether it is an effective bunker-buster.
