Just a little update on the Telegram vulnerability... ZDI seemed to have updated at least twice on the CVSS score of this issue where it dropped from 9.8 to as low as 5.4 but now it's up to 7.0, however 2 key elements remained unchanged during the last 2 updates: 1. Attack Vector Network ▶️ Local This means that the attack cannot be remotely executed but rather requires local read/write/execute abilities, so either the attacker requires access to your account or requires you to run a malicious file. 2. User Interaction None ▶️ Required This is huge. This means that unlike what the previous score of 9.8 would've suggested, this requires the user to do something, like opening a link, downloading and running a file or saving a sticker, instead. There is nothing wrong with adjusting the scores since it's not easy to test vulnerabilities when the exact details can't be disclosed to the public BUT also some sort of preliminary information needs to be. As testing continues, the score, naturally, would change. None of this would've came as a surprise to most of us, but until we know the truth people should not be fearmongering by spreading unverified or outdated news. === TL;DR: The Telegram vulnerability cannot be remotely-executed and requires the user to "do something" like downloading and running a malicious file. The exact vulnerability is still not disclosed yet as of this post. Just continue to update your clients whenever an update rolls around and you'd be good to go.
