Chapter 10 Daniel Chapter 11 - Part 1 The King of the South vs. the King of the North - The Kingdom of Greece Chapter 11 takes us to one of the most detailed and powerful prophecies in the Bible that the prophet Daniel receives through the Messiah. After we received in Chapter 8 the knowledge and understanding that the kingdom of Greece in general and what happened with Antiochus and the kingdom of the north in particular, are a model, shadow and pattern for the kingdom of Rome and the Antichrist who is also called the king of the north, and will rise from the roman empire as the last king in the last days until the return of Messiah Jesus to the earth to establish his eternal kingdom on it. The king of the north will fight the king of the south and overcome him. Parts of Israel will see the king of the north as a savior and a time of redemption. The king of the north will turn against the Jews, desecrate the Temple and set up a foreign idol in it. Chapter 9 begins with Daniel about 49 years after the destruction of Jerusalem and 67 years after the first wave of the Babylonian exile, which was in three parts. Daniel looks at the book of Jeremiah and checks the timing, whether the judgment of 70 years of exile is counted from the destruction of Jerusalem or from the first exile. Daniel enters into prayer and teaches us so much about the structure of prayer, which begins with confession of sin and taking responsibility, continues with the recognition of the righteous judgment of Jehovah according to the Torah and the warning given beforehand, and ends with a request and turning to the gate of grace and mercy. While calculating the times and praying, the angel Gabriel appears to Daniel and gives him and us one of the most powerful prophecies in the Bible about the redemption plan of the people of Israel, about the price along the way, along with tools for calculating time points in the redemption plan. The angel Gabriel tells Daniel that the time frame for the redemption process of Israel is 70 weeks (490 years) but it is not a continuous process but rather an interrupted one and there is a delay and it is built from a first period of 69 continuous weeks (483 years) that begin with the decree permitting the restoration of the construction of Jerusalem with a public dimension and a defense system. And a second period of a final week (7 years) that closes the period of the end of days. Gabriel further reveals that in the first period of 69 weeks, Jerusalem will be rebuilt with an urban dimension and a defense system (within 7 weeks), the Messiah will arrive (within 62 weeks) and at the end of it will also be cut off by the people who will destroy the Temple and from which the ruler will come, The satanic one who comes in the end times and will close the last week. The book of Daniel teaches us that the word 'weeks' in the chapter refers to a time frame of a 'week' equal to 7 years. The book of Nehemiah teaches us in chapter 2 that the decree that refers to the building of Jerusalem with a public system and the city's defensive walls is the decree that Nehemiah receives from Artaxerxes, the Persian king, in 445 BC. Chapter 8 is a chapter that gives us the key to a deep understanding of the end times. About three years after the dream of the four beasts that Daniel sees, he receives another prophetic dream that corresponds with the dream of the image from chapter 2 and the dream of the four beasts from chapter 7 - about the empires that will rule the world until the return of the Messiah and also the price that is on the way. In this prophetic dream, Daniel sees a ram (the adult male of the lamb) that grows stronger and reflects the kingdom of Persia that rises to power after Babylon and then the he-goat (the male of the goat) with a large horn between its eyes that comes from the west quickly and tramples the ram and reflects the kingdom of Greece - the empire that rises and conquers Persia and becomes a world domination. Daniel also sees that at the height of the ram's power, the great horn is broken and in it's place, 4 horns rise that point to the four directions of heaven and from them a single horn rises that grows stronger and spreads to the east and the Land of Israel, harming the people of Israel and the Temple. This sight reflects the sudden death of Alexander the Great and the division of Greece into 4 generals who divided the kingdom among them, and the rise of Antiochus IV who rises from the northern kingdom - the Seleucid kingdom, and finally turns against the Jews, wreaks havoc, imposes decrees, stops the sacrifices and defiles the Temple with the installation of the statue of the idol Zeus. When Daniel asks for understanding about the dream, the angel Gabriel explains to him that it is a vision of the end of days and the end of wrath.
