Both men advised Teddy Roosevelt, contributed to his administration, and were lions for the American Eugenics movement. Immigration restriction is an American tradition, and this channel is dedicated to the work they led.

Patriot spotlight: The man who popularized and designed the Playground in America, Joseph Lee, financed the Immigration Restriction League. Lee promoted the strictest immigration laws in U.S. history, and believed if a people did not make a good playmate, they were not fit to assimilate. Immigration was a defining issue of the American Centennial, too. Before the worst mass migration wave yet, California fought to repel cheap labor, especially from China. The Supreme Court blocked Cali in 1876, forcing Congress to act, which led up to the Chinese Exclusion Acts. Lawmakers lobbied to stem the tide, official government study found that "The Chinese deprive Whites, live in filth and can never assimilate", it was of dire important to end their importation.
