NIFTY 50 | CLBS | MON 17 AUG 2026 THE READ Close 24,366. Sellers attacked 24,300 repeatedly and failed to hold it — that’s the whole story. Not a reversal, a repair. VIX ~11.30 and FII futures still heavily short: compressed vol plus crowded shorts is squeeze fuel, but fuel isn’t fire. Price has to earn it above resistance. THE MAP • Defence: 24,300–24,315 • Pivot: 24,350 • Battlefield: 24,400–24,450 • Bull switch: acceptance > 24,450 → 24,500 → 24,565 → 24,600 • Bear switch: acceptance < 24,300 → 24,250 → 24,200 → 24,180 THE BATTLEFIELD (24,350–24,450) Heavy two-way inventory, near-ATM gamma, Friday’s repaired auction — all stacked in one pocket. Max Pain sits ~24,400, the wider surface pulls toward 24,450. Treat it as a corridor, not a number. Rotation until someone gets accepted. Don’t chase the middle. BULL CASE — needs all of it Positive delta, price rising with the delta, value/VWAP holding, call pressure easing, VIX quiet. Above 24,450 dealer positioning turns supportive. That’s when 24,500 gets real. THE TRAP Positive delta but price stalling at 24,400–24,450 = buyers being absorbed, not a breakout. Rejection back to 24,350 → 24,315. Green delta is not a buy signal. BEAR CASE — a touch isn’t enough 24,300 held all Friday. Needs expanding negative delta, fresh short build, failed VWAP reclaim, VIX waking up. Only then does the repair thesis break. MONDAY’S TELL • Positive delta + rising price → squeeze progressing • Positive delta + flat price → sellers absorbing • Negative delta + 24,300 holding → seller exhaustion • Negative delta + acceptance below → continuation HERO RULE 24,300 protects the repair. 24,350 controls the auction. 24,400–24,450 is the battlefield. Above 24,450 releases the bulls. Below 24,300 releases the bears. BIAS: NEUTRAL → BULLISH REPAIR Don’t guess direction. Wait to see whose inventory gets trapped first. Educational only. Validate against pre-open, live OI, footprint, VWAP and VIX before execution.
