Praying With Madhī (Pre-Ejaculatory Fluid) | Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Al Tahiri يقول السائل لماذا المذي طاهر؟ The questioner says: Why is madhī (pre-ejaculatory fluid) considered pure? وهل إذا صليت به وهو لزج لم يجف الصلاة تصح؟ And if I pray with it while it is sticky and has not dried, is the prayer valid? طبعا المذي نجس عند جماهير العلماء Of course, madhī is impure according to the vast majority of scholars. نحن نقول ما لنا وما علينا We say what is for us and what is against us. المذيُ نجسٌ عند جماهير العلماء Madhī is impure according to the vast majority of scholars. بل قال وحكى بعضهم الإجماع Rather, some of them even stated and reported the Ijmaa’ (consensus) on this. لكن وجد من السلف من لا يرى نجاسة المذي However, there were some among the Salaf who did not view madhī as impure, ويجعله تابعاً للمني and they consider it to follow semen. وعلى هذا القول فلو قال لماذا المذي طاهر؟ Based on this view, if one were to ask: Why is madhī considered pure? نقول لأنه تابع للمني، فهو يخرج عند الشهوة كالمني يخرج عند الشهوة We say: because it follows semen. It comes out due to desire, just as semen comes out due to desire. لكن الفرق أن المذي لا يكون منه الولد But the difference is that a child is not produced from madhī, والمني يكون منه الولد بمشيئة الفرد الصمد whereas a child comes from semen by the will of the One, As-Ṣamad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need). وهل إذا صليت به وهو لزجٌ لم يجف الصلاة تصح؟ And if I pray with it while it is sticky and has not dried, is the prayer valid? نعم تصح الصلاة عند من يرى عدم نجاسته Yes, the prayer is valid according to the one who sees that it is not impure. ولا تصح الصلاة عند من لا يرى طهارته And the prayer is not valid according to the one who does not see it as pure. وحينئذٍ فخروجاً من الخلاف اغسله يا أخي And in that case, to exit from the difference (in views), wash it, my brother.

أخوكم بو ناصر يسأل يقول Your brother Abu Nasser asks and says, هل صلاه التراويح مجزٍ عن صلاة القيام، مع افضلية القيام. Is the Taraweeh prayer sufficient in place of the night prayer (Qiyam), even though Qiyam is more virtuous? عمر رضي الله عنه مرّ بالناس وهم يصلون التراويح فقال: ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by people while they were praying Taraweeh and said, “والتي تنامون عنها خيرٌ من التي تقومون إليها” “The one that you sleep through (i.e., the later night prayer after sleeping) is better than the one you are praying (i.e., the early-night prayer).” وهذا واضح من حيث الخيرية لا شك And this is clear in regard to which is better, without doubt. لذلك ينبغي على المصلي في العشر الاواخر أن يبحث عن إمامٍ قريبٍ منه يدرك الثلث الاخير من الليل بتراويحه او بقيامه. Therefore, during the last ten nights, the one praying should look for an imām near him so that he may attain the last third of the night through his tarāwīḥ or his qiyām. والافضل أن الليل كله يكون في الصلاة. And it is best that the whole night be spent in prayer. هذا الذي نحث الناس عليه. This is what we encourage people to do. ان الليل كله يكون في صلاه نعم That the entire night be spent in prayer, yes.

Ramadan Is Not the Month of Food | Sheikh Muhammad Hisham Tahiri يعني بعض الناس إذا جاء رمضان، ما عنده شغل إلا الطعام. Meaning that some people, when Ramaḍān comes, have no occupation except food. ما عنده شغل إلا جلب الطعام، شراء الطعام، كأنّه شهر الطعام! They have no occupation except bringing food, buying food, as if it were the month of food! اتقوا الله عزّ وجلّ، رمضان ليس شهر الطعام Have Taqwa of Allah -Mighty and Majestic-! Ramaḍān is not the month of food. يا إخوة، والله عجبُ العُجاب! O brothers, by Allah, it is the most astonishing of matters! رمضان الناس يأكلون فيه أكثر من غير رمضان! لماذا؟! In Ramaḍān, people eat more than in other than Ramaḍān! Why?! يا إخوان، الآن أنتم تتعشون، أنتو الحين راح تروحون تتعشون O brothers, now you are having dinner; you are now going to go and have dinner. واليوم تغدّيتوا، وبُكرة تتغدّون وتعشون. And today you had lunch, and tomorrow you will have lunch and dinner. هل تطبخون مثل ما تطبخون في رمضان؟ الجواب: لا. Do you cook the way you cook in Ramaḍān? The answer is no! طيب، لماذا في رمضان تُشغلون الناس بالطبخ؟ So then, why in Ramaḍān do you occupy people with cooking? هذه عادات سيّئة يجب أن نتركها. These are bad habits that we must abandon. النبي ﷺ كان يُفطر على رُطَبات، تمرات. The Prophet ﷺ used to break his fast with a few rutab (soft ripe dates), dates. لماذا عشرين نوعًا؟ Why twenty types?

Aspiration in Ramadan | Sheikh Muhammad Hisham Al-Tahiri فكم من أناسٍ ينشغلون في رمضان بالمسلسلات والمفسدونات والتلفزيونات How many people, in Ramaḍān, become occupied with series, corrupting (content), and televisions, وكم من الناس ينشغلون بالهواتف وكم وكم وكم! and how many people are occupied with their phones — how many, how many, how many! لكن صاحب الهمة العالية يدرك أن سلعة الله معروضة في رمضان But the person of high aspiration realizes that the commodity of Allah is offered in Ramaḍān, فيبذل قصارى جهده في حصول مغفرات، so he exerts his utmost effort to attain acts of forgiveness, في حصول الأوسمة الإلهية in attaining the divine honors مغفرةٌ نهارية a daytime forgiveness, مغفرةٌ ليلية a nighttime forgiveness, مغفرةٌ قدرية a forgiveness related to (the night of) al-Qadr, ثلاث مغفراتٍ يحاول الحصول عليها Three forms of forgiveness that he strives to attain, لتكون في صحيفته يوم تُعطى الصحائف بالأيمان so that they may be in his record on the Day when the records are given in the right hands, أو تعلق على الرقاب والأذهان or hung upon the necks and minds

Preparing Yourself for Ramaḍān | Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Al Tahiri لشهر رمضان أن نُهَيِّئ أنفسنا، إلى أنها كما قال الله: "أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَاتٍ" For the month of Ramaḍān, we should prepare ourselves, (knowing) that it is, as Allah said (meaning), “a fixed number of days” هذه الأيام معدودات These days are counted. فنُهَيِّئ أنفسنا، مثل المتسابق الذي يريد أن يكون الأول يهيئ نفسه So we prepare ourselves, like a competitor who wants to come in first prepares himself. يقول ماذا يعني 200 متر، ماذا يعني 500 متر، ماذا يعني 1000 متر، ليس بشيء. He prepares himself by saying: What is 200 meters? What is 500 meters? What is 1000 meters? It is nothing. فيحدث نفسه بأنه ليس بشيء حتى يسهِّل على نفسه الجري فيكون الأول. He speaks to himself that it is nothing, so that running becomes easy for him and he comes in first. والله سبحانه وتعالى يقول: "أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَاتٍ" And Allah, Glorified and Exalted, says (meaning): “a fixed number of days”. قلَّلَها، معدودات، فهي لا تتجاوز العقود الثلاثة: عشرة فعشرة فعشرة He made it few — counted. It does not exceed three sets of ten: ten, then ten, then ten. لا يمكن أن تتجاوز. It cannot exceed that.

أخوكم يوسف يسأل يقول: Your brother Yūsuf asks, he says: إذا ذهبت إلى السوق وأحسست أن السعر مبالغ فإلى أي مدى يمكن أن أتفاوض؟ If I go to the market and feel that the price is exaggerated, to what extent can I negotiate? التفاوض مباح: وهو الأخذ والعطاء مع البايع والمشتري Negotiation is permissible: it is the give-and-take between the seller and the buyer. لكن بدون إلحاح، بدون إلحاح. But without insisting, without insisting. لأن الإلحاح يخرج الإنسان من السماحة، ويدخله في كسب أموال الناس بغير وجه حق Because insisting takes a person out of leniency and brings him into earning the people’s money without a rightful way. يعني مثلاً يدخل الإنسان إلى المحل، الرجل يقول له بكم هذا الماء؟ Meaning, for example, a person enters the shop; the man says to him: “How much is this water?” يقول له مئة فلس. يقول له بيع لي بخمسين. He says to him: “One hundred fils.” He says to him: “Sell it to me for fifty.” قاله له لا ما يصير. تكفى! الله يخليك أرجوك. He says to him: “No, it cannot be.” “Please! May Allah preserve you, please.” هذا ما يجوز. لكن تتفاوض معه، تقوله إذا تبيعه بخمس وسبعين أخذه، ما تاخذه بمشي. This is not permissible. But you negotiate with him; you say to him: “If you sell it for seventy-five, I’ll take it; if you do not, I’ll leave.” هذا جايز، هذا هو الحد. This is permissible; this is the limit. ولذلك جاء بالحديث: رحم الله رجلاً سمحاً إذا باع وسمحاً إذا اشترى And therefore it came in the ḥadīth: “May Allah have mercy on a man who is lenient when he sells and lenient when he buys.” معنى السماحة: أنه يتفاوض باللفظ المعقول بدون إلحاح ولا يكون سؤولاً The meaning of leniency is that he negotiates with reasonable wording, without insisting, and that he does not keep asking. نعم Yes.
