But the true miracle is this, That through it all, love endures. Not because it is easy, but because it is chosen. Every single day. So today, we choose again. And in choosing, we promise Not just to love when it is simple, But to return to love again and again. Especially when it is not.      ~ James Kavanaugh @newfirebird 🔥🪽

A little about health today — one of the most important aspects of our lives, although we often begin to think seriously about its true value only when we start to lose it. Can a plant with profound religious significance help where modern medicine is still searching for effective solutions? This short film takes a closer look at iboga — a remarkable plant that has been used for centuries in traditional religious rituals in Africa. Ibogaine is a naturally occurring psychoactive compound, an indole alkaloid derived from the root bark of the African shrub Tabernanthe iboga. Today, the substance is attracting considerable interest for its potential use in the treatment of addiction and brain injuries. Research and reports have also explored its possible relevance to depression, Lyme disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other conditions. It is a fascinating meeting point between centuries-old knowledge of plants and modern scientific inquiry. A short film, but a subject certainly worth discovering. @OnlyFaithOverFear

LIFE IS LONGER, BUT WORSE. THE ILLUSION OF LONGEVITY: LIVING LONGER, OR SUFFERING LONGER? “Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come to open a bottle of organic prosecco and raise a toast. The reason? People around the world are living longer! In just over thirty years, from 1990 to 2023, global average life expectancy at birth increased from 64.6 years to 73.8 years. Wonderful. At last, some good news! 🍾 Well, yes, never mind that the number of years spent in poor health has also increased. The statistics say we are living longer. Period. End of discussion. But according to a recent study published in The Lancet Public Health, within a single generation, the average number of years spent in poor health increased from 8.8 years in 1990 to 10.7 years in 2023. Worldwide, in 2023, people spent an average of 14.5% of their lives in poor health, compared with 13.6% in 1990. A classic example of what someone with a subscription to Focus magazine might describe as: “the improvement is meagre.” And be careful, because this “living in worse health” does not concern only the final years of life, but practically the whole of adult life! All of this for the profits of the pharmaceutical giants. The ideal customer is neither someone who gets cured nor someone who dies quickly; the ideal customer is someone who stays alive but remains chronically ill. Thanks to advances in medicine, people are living longer, but at the same time they have to contend with chronic illnesses, pain, anxiety, and disability. We have become very good at avoiding death, but we have forgotten how to live well. They sold us longevity as a reward, but it looks more like a sentence condemning us to pay rent and taxes for a little longer. Can this really be called living? Is life an existence spent collecting exemptions from prescription charges and standing in line at the pharmacy? Personally, I do not care about the quantity of life, but about its quality! I would rather live one day as a lion, or even simply as a healthy and rational human being, than spend ten years in a vegetative state, artificially kept alive in order to balance the books of pharmaceutical corporations.” — Marcello Pamio @OnlyFaithOverFear

Fluorite holding barite within its crystalline structure — a record of geological processes written in mineral form. “The qualities I value most are precisely those that seem to be disappearing: discretion, sensitivity toward others, the absence of vulgarity, and the ability to keep one’s baser impulses in check. I believe in inner elegance, in that quiet respect that has no need to put itself on display. Genuine people do not make a spectacle of themselves; you recognize them by the way they treat others, by the words they choose, and by the sense of measure with which they move through life. I am also struck by the lack of a genuine love for existence. To live fully does not mean pursuing every impulse, but seeking harmony, beauty, and awareness. I would like to see a world capable of rediscovering modesty, sensitivity, and grace. Not out of nostalgia, but because without these qualities, we risk losing the noblest and most deeply human part of ourselves.” — Franco Battiato @OnlyFaithOverFear

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Morelia, Mexico One of Morelia’s most extraordinary sacred interiors. Behind its rather restrained exterior lies an astonishing world of color and ornament, where walls and ceilings are covered with intricate floral and geometric decoration. A remarkable example of how architecture, craftsmanship, and religious art can transform a space into something almost otherworldly. @OnlyFaithOverFear

The Roman Theatre of Catania is one of Sicily’s remarkable surviving monuments from antiquity. Dating mainly to the 2nd century AD, it lies almost hidden in the heart of Catania’s historic centre. Built largely from dark volcanic stone and once adorned with white marble, the theatre reflects the striking contrasts of the city itself — Roman architecture shaped by the volcanic landscape of Mount Etna. Centuries later, it remains an extraordinary fragment of the ancient world woven into the fabric of modern Catania. @OnlyFaithOverFear

The hummingbird teaches us that it can be very dangerous to betray the deepest part of who we are, the seemingly hidden reason for our coming into this world. Never allow yourself to be locked in a cage, neither by someone else nor by your own thoughts. There is always a small light to follow, one that can set you free to take flight at once. Open your eyes. The sky is out there. — Thomas Leoncini, L’ansia del Colibrì @OnlyFaithOverFear

There are things in life that cannot be commanded, and the heart of another is one of them. No matter how deeply we desire to be chosen, no matter how much of ourselves we pour into another person, the truth remains: love cannot be forced. Affection that is demanded becomes a burden, and loyalty that must be begged for becomes fragile. The essence of love lies in its freedom; the moment we try to cage it, we diminish what made it love in the first place. What is meant for us will find its way without being coerced. True love stays not because we hold on to it in fear, but because it freely chooses to remain — through trust, devotion, and mutual presence. To understand this is to release the weight of desperation and discover the quiet strength of patience. The love that chooses us freely does not need to be constantly questioned. And perhaps that is where peace begins. — Chamod Senevirathne @OnlyFaithOverFear
