Malaysian creator sorude_ shared a video filmed in China after spotting a restaurant whose name was translated into English as “Kangkang Rice…”, prompting her to point out its unexpected meaning in Malay. In Malay folklore, “nasi kangkang” refers to a form of traditional love magic in which rice is believed to be imbued with bodily fluids and then fed to a partner or intended target. Folklore holds that consuming the rice could make the person more submissive, obedient or emotionally attached to the one who prepared it. A family is appealing for information after an elderly man in his 70s was allegedly injured during a confrontation at a coffee shop. According to an IG post, the man, who has existing leg and hip injuries, allegedly fell after being confronted by a child’s father. The family said he later experienced severe back pain, despite the man apologising and offering him a drink afterwards. The family is seeking information to identify the man involved, while stressing that it does not want anyone to harass or confront him.
