Decoding GS-3 : 1. It is important to understand that GS -3 has 5 sections : Economy, Agriculture, Science and Technology, Environment and Disaster Management and Internal Security. 2. Each section is approximately 50 marks and has to be prepared proportionately. 3. Internal security and disaster management are the lowest hanging fruits in GS-3 which are often not given adequate time. On the other hand most of the time is devoted to economics. 4. To score higher in GS-3 : refer PYQs to determine how each topic is to be prepared. Example - prepare government budgeting on the lines of question being asked in the previous years. MY SOURCES: 1. For Science and Tech: prepare a simple definition, examples, data, pros and cons of each term given in the syllabus. Beyond that it is not in one's hand to predict S&T questions. 2. For Environment : Again prepare on the lines of PYQs - which will help one uderstand that climate change, pollution are the most repeated topics and hence should be done comprehensively. 3. For Disaster Management : Prepared from VisionIAS material available online on the line of PYQs. 4. For Internal Security : I used Vajiram's Yellow book to prepare my own notes. Any standard text can be used but again keeping in mind what has been asked previously. 5. For Agriculture : Prepare data, definition of each term in the syllabus. I used VisionIAS material for static and value addition portions. 6. For Economics : My source was Economic Survey summary by VisionIAS done as per PYQs. I am sharing my GS-3 Answer copies form I-Wil and Mainstorming Test series in this post. Soon I will upload my GS-3 notes for reference purposes. ALL THE BEST!!

The thrill of Prelims! Tomorrow is the day. The day of CSE 26 prelims exam. The day you'll face 100 new and thrilling questions Thrilling is not something you usually associate with an exam. However, this exam is different. Each question invokes a mixed feelings of excitement, fear and thrill. One option you would be able to eliminate easily, another option by some intuition. The real suspense appears in last 2 options With each passing question the fear will start taking over. After all how we all are human with human weaknesses. The secret is to take each question as a new question. Mark each question with your brain and not your heart. Remember, Prelims is not about knowledge but about temperament. Knowledge puts you in the race, but temperament makes you win it! Feel the fear but cherish the excitement that comes with each new question. Who knows, it might be your last prelims! May the probability be with you @g0uravs @PriyanshaIAS

12 Days to Go What to expect: 1. Feeling that you are forgetting everything 2. Extreme highs and lows — one moment you might imagine yourself scoring 130+/clearing IFS cutoff and the next moment unsure of even clearing CSE cutoff 3. Panic attacks after imagining most of the questions coming from the sections you skipped 4. Sudden realization that you don't know even the order of Mughals (or Vijaynagara dynasty) when it comes to medieval 5. 1–2 test scores in 70s 6. A few "veterans" giving you gyan on how difficult prelims is and "prelims aise nahi nikalta" 7. Family/relatives testing you by asking random-est of information 8. Need for validation on both emotional/intellectual fronts 9. A few days of low/zero productivity Just remember one thing, everyone is feeling the same and this is a part of UPSC (of any other exam) process. Try to minimize the last one and be comfortable with others. Feel the feelings but execute the planned schedule. May the probability be with you! @g0uravs @PriyanshaIAS

78+ total selections out of 140 in the Indian Forest Service 2025! Having personally benefitted from the group myself, I couldn't feel more proud to see what the community has grown into today. I am sure the selections must be over 100, with many lazy ones who don't vote. :P Congratulations to all the selected candidates. The best is yet to come! Welcome to the All India Service league! ❤️ IFoS 2026 aspirants can join the group: https://t.me/+oVmdgEoYOcE0ODJl Strictly for IFoS-related discussions only.

Our Take on RBI Grade B 2025 The RBI Grade B notification is out (Click Here). Phase 1 is scheduled for June 13 and Phase 2 in the last week of July. The big question: Only 40 seats this year. Is it still worth it? For context, RBI used to release 300+ vacancies just two to three years ago. So yes, the competition has gotten sharper. But here is our honest take. If you are a UPSC Prelims aspirant: Do not let RBI distract you right now. Keep your full focus on Prelims until May 24, but do fill the form before the deadline. Post Prelims, you will have roughly three weeks for Phase 1 preparation. With a UPSC background, that is more than enough to cover General Awareness. For Quant and Reasoning, the syllabus mirrors CSAT almost exactly. We will be posting a detailed strategy on @RBIGradeBDr. Should you still prepare for RBI Grade B? Absolutely. It remains the best Plan B for UPSC aspirants. Historically, 70 to 80 percent of selections come from the UPSC pool. But do it after Prelims. One strong suggestion: avoid joining any coaching especially all these with videos and 100s of lectures. RBI Grade B lacks useful coaching. Self-study remains the most effective strategy for RBI Grade B. We will be sharing a complete preparation roadmap and free resources on @RBIGradeB. That should be more than sufficient. Wishing you all the very best for Prelims (RBI Grade B) @g0uravs and @PriyanshaIAS

CSE 2025 result is expected today! This reminds me of the day when my CSE result was declared.  I clearly remember the day. It was May 23, 2023. The next prelims was hardly 5 days away. Given my track record of multiple failures in Prelims, a rational me should have been studying. But as often seen in humans, emotions overpower logic, and I was anxiously scrolling through telegram chats, following "insiders," and refreshing the UPSC website every 10 seconds. The result was expected to be declared soon, but how soon that only gods knew or UPSC. I was refreshing upsc website mindlessly, and suddenly one such refresh presented something slightly different. I looked closely - the link for the final result had appeared. The heartbeat almost stopped. With all my courage, I clicked on the link. Still not sure if the net was slow or time had stopped, the time taken to load the PDF felt like an eternity. The PDF finally opened. For the first time, I faced the dilemma that every interview candidate faces - whether to go for a Ctrl+F and risk a heart attack or to search for your name manually and prolong your torment. I decided to risk a heart attack. I did a Ctrl+F. Until P-R-I-Y-A-N of Priyansha, 2-3 results were showing; I was getting a little hopeful. The next S, however, made the number of results 0. My mind instantly went blank. I felt incapable of feeling any emotion. I refused to believe what I was seeing on the screen. As I mentioned, humans are not as rational as they think they are. I decided to go for the manual search, and I didn't have to go far - the name was on the first page itself. AIR 31     0824362        Priyansha Garg It took some time to sink in, but I had cleared CSE 2022 with AIR 31. The time from refreshing the site to finding my name must not have taken more than 30 seconds, but I still can feel goosebumps when I recall these 30 seconds. For these 30 seconds added 3 letters to the name Priyansha Garg, making it Priyansha Garg, IAS! After serving for 2 years, I am immensely grateful for the diverse learning opportunities the IAS provided during my training period at LBSNAA and within my cadre. To all the candidates - Best of luck for the future and believe me when I say, the best is yet to come! @PriyanshaIAS

Decoding Environment: Focus on these 4 pillars. [Average time needed 3-4 days] 8/n 1. The Basics (Ecology & Agriculture) 🌿 - Ecosystem functions, Food Chains, Pyramids and Cycles (Nitrogen/Carbon). - Cropping patterns, Sustainable agriculture (Permaculture, Zero Budget Natural Farming) and Technologies (System of Rice Intensification). 2. Biodiversity & Climate Change 🐾 - Understand the phenomena—Global Warming, Ocean Acidification, Coral Bleaching and Ozone Depletion. - Focus on "Flagship Species" (Cheetah, Great Indian Bustard, Dugong). Know their IUCN status + Habitat. - Protected Areas: National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries (WLS) and Tiger Reserves that were in the news. 3. Organizations & Funds 🇺🇳 - International: UNFCCC, CBD, UNCCD, IUCN Focus: Know the Conferences of Parties (COPs), the Funds (GEF, GCF, Adaptation Fund) and the Reports they publish. - National: NGT, CPCB, WCCB, NBA. Focus: Statutory vs. Non-Statutory. Who heads it? What are its powers? 4. Acts & Laws 📜 The Big 4: - Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 (Schedules are crucial). - Environment Protection Act, 1986. - Forest Conservation Act, 1980 (and recent amendments). - Biodiversity Act, 2002. The Rules: Waste Management Rules (Plastic, E-waste, Solid Waste). Know the targets and the bans. Master these core areas and you’ll be prepared for 70–80% of environmental questions. Beyond that, the returns start to diminish. Focus your time where it matters most and then supplement strategically as needed. @priyanshaIAS @iasxifs

Decoding Ancient & Medieval: The "Fact-Heavy" Strategy (7/n) Ancient and Medieval History are the most volatile subjects in the syllabus. You memorize a dynasty today and you will definitely forget their capital tommorow. It is factually dense. Hence, there is very little "concept" and a lot of "cramming." Also, the Cost-Benefit ratio is low. Lucent GK + Themes NCERTs were my books. 1. Lucent is factual and will definitely require more than 5-6 reads to make some sense. - you can start with terminilogies/tables/books and authors/battles. 2. Themes NCERT - Focus on the Boxes, Images and Captions. If there is a map of Mauryan inscriptions, memorize the locations. 3. Identify the most repeated topics: - chronology -Administration -Religious sects: Councils, Texts, Sects like Hinayana/Mahayana -types of officers/terminilogy used by different kingdoms: e.g., Samaharta, Sannidhata 4. Solve Questions: - Randomly solving tests is helpful for active recollection. You will get them wrong and then you will remember it ;P. - Reverse Learning will be helpful. PS: Spending too much time on reading dense books might not be very useful. Most people will get most questions wrong because India has very rich ancient and medieval history and no one can know it enough. Stick to the basics!! @priyanshaIAS @iasxifs
