Quai dev update: Bitcoin subsidy under development SOAP's SHA lane has been Bitcoin Cash only. Bitcoin support is now actively in development, and it's coming along well! The node will be able to accept and validate native Bitcoin proof-of-work submissions BTC and BCH will share a single SHA256d lane, so you won't have to pick Minimal changes for pools and solo miners. Since both share the same lane, there's nothing to re-architect. A node update will likely be required, and we'll give pools and solo miners advance notice before anything changes, so nobody gets surprised. Quick note: We anticipate that Bitcoin will not be 100% of the hashrate immediately. Expect a gradual transition as hashrate finds its way over. Bitcoin Cash showed the power of SOAP. Bitcoin mining is how Quai unites all of Proof of Work. Stay tuned. ⚡️️️️️️

We’re excited to share that “Optimal Reward Allocation via Proportional Splitting” has been accepted to the Advances in Financial Technologies (AFT) 2026 conference at the London School of Economics in London, one of just 36 submissions selected from 185. Developed with Common Prefix, the paper introduces Proportional Reward Splitting (PRS), a reward mechanism designed to strengthen Proof-of-Work systems against strategies such as selfish mining. This research is already implemented in Quai Network through workshares, block-like objects that satisfy a lower Proof-of-Work threshold and are generated more frequently than full blocks. PRS counts workshares alongside blocks to approximate the distribution of mining power and split each block’s rewards proportionally among miners. AFT 2026 takes place October 6-9. Congratulations to Lukas Aumayr, Zeta Avarikioti, Dimitris Karakostas, Karl Kreder, and Shreekara Shastry! We’re thrilled to see this work recognized at AFT and already in action on Quai.
