  • ⏰ ON TONIGHT!! ⏰ 📻 Our August RFRN meeting is happening tonight, Monday 10th August, at 8PM. Whether you're wondering which radio to buy, trying to improve your range, or simply want to understand more about how your equipment works, this session is for you. 📡 Getting Started 📶 Range & Coverage 🗺️ Antennas & Terrain 🔋 Batteries & Setup ❓ Your Questions Come along, learn something useful, and get better connected with the RFRN community. 🔗 Register here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/nfO5MtgKRgeNlXufR-tvOw

  • 📻 RFRN Q&A: Do I need a licence? ❓ Do I need a licence to use PRS radios in New Zealand? 👉 No. You don’t need to apply for an individual licence or pay a licence fee to use approved PRS radios on the designated PRS frequencies. PRS use is covered by a General User Radio Licence (GURL), provided you use compliant equipment and follow the conditions that apply. 📡 Simplex use, or duplex use of a repeater, is covered by the GURL. However, the repeater installation itself requires licensing and approval from RSM to ensure it doesn’t interfere with other existing repeaters. 📻 CB is a separate radio service from PRS. CB is also covered by a GURL, but the two systems are not the same and are not compatible. Want to know more about recommended PRS equipment? 👉 Check out: https://rfrn.co.nz 📅 Join our next RFRN meeting:https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/nfO5MtgKRgeNlXufR-tvOw 📻 Join the RFRN channel:https://t.me/RebuildFreeRadioNetwork

  • 📻 One Meeting. Two Big Questions. ❓ How do I get started with radio? ❓ How do I get more from the radio I already have? Our August RFRN meeting will tackle both. We'll cover the practical basics… choosing equipment, getting set up and understanding the essentials… before looking at range, antennas, terrain and other factors that can make a real difference to your radio performance 📡 Perfect for newcomers. Useful for experienced users. And a great chance to bring your questions…. Q&A included, based on all your questions from our June webinar. 🗓️ MONDAY 10 AUGUST @ 8PM ⏰ Don't leave it until you need your radio to discover you don't understand your setup! 🔗 Register here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/nfO5MtgKRgeNlXufR-tvOw

  • 📻 Radio Tip: It Might Be Your Antenna! Think your radio isn't working properly? Before you blame the handset, check the antenna. 📡 A poor-quality, damaged, or incorrectly fitted antenna can dramatically reduce your range. In fact, upgrading your antenna can make a bigger difference than upgrading your radio. Before your next radio net, take a minute to: ✅ Check your antenna is firmly attached ✅ Inspect it for cracks, damage, or loose grub screw connections on the roof antenna ✅ Hold your radio upright while transmitting ✅ Avoid covering the antenna with your hand 👉 Bonus Tip: Inspect cable connections for water ingress. Water in the cable will reduce your range, all outdoor connections should be protected from water with rubber tape. Sometimes the simplest checks make the biggest difference. 📻 Follow RFRN: https://rfrn.co.nz 👉 Join our Telegram community: https://t.me/RebuildFreeRadioNetwork

Linc and Lisa will answer questions raised during our recent RFRN webinar so this is a great opportunity to get answers! ❓📻 Join us for a practical, no-nonsense session designed to help you make informed decisions and get more from your radio setup. 🗓️ MONDAY 10 AUGUST @ 8PM 🔗 Register now: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/nfO5MtgKRgeNlXufR-tvOw 🎥 Missed the webinar? 🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️ RFRN Radio Comms Workshop in Tauranga Saturday 16 May Trish held an awesome workshop with the assistance of Linc. There was a very good PowerPoint presentation indoors, introducing people into the wonderful world of Radio Comms, and then outdoors in a nearby park there were some great hands-on, interactive practicals. There was excellent feedback from people about the workshop; they now feel inspired to invest in some radios and those who have radios now feel confident to use them. Great work team! Thank you to Trish, Linc, Jean & Maureen, Dee and Kevin, and Lisa for all helping to make this event successful. 🙏 👉 Join our database: https://www.cognitoforms.com/TJB2021LtdVFF/RebuildFreeRadioNetworkDatabase 👉 Follow the channel: https://t.me/RebuildFreeRadioNetwork

📡 A quick and easy upgrade last week at Tiff’s place 😄 Linc installed a new fibreglass dipole antenna, giving Tiff vastly improved simplex reach and an even stronger setup overall. The weather couldn’t quite make up its mind… with everything from driving rain ☔ to bright sunshine ☀️ … but the install was completed smoothly and efficiently as always! Fabulous to see practical improvements happening around the network.. thank you, Linc! 📻👏 👉 Join our database: https://www.cognitoforms.com/TJB2021LtdVFF/RebuildFreeRadioNetworkDatabase 👉 Follow the channel: https://t.me/RebuildFreeRadioNetwork
