🔴Military weapons were delivered to the house: machine guns, anti-tank guns and ammunition. The house was adapted for conducting all-round defense. To communicate with the firing points, underground passages were made from the building.The soldiers (25 people) held the line for 58 days... It is still unknown how many enemies were destroyed. 25 people took part in the defense. An interesting fact is that almost all the soldiers were of different nationalities (representatives of 11 nationalities). There was a female medical instructor among the soldiers. During the attacks from the enemy side, Maria put aside the first-aid kit and picked up a weapon. The Red Army soldiers fought back through embrasures in the walls and windows. The house was fully suitable for all-round defense. The third floor was an observation post. Attacks on the building by the Germans were carried out daily, several times. But the enemy always received a worthy response in the form of heavy fire.

🔴It's impossible to hold back the tears. A meeting of the defenders of Pavlov's House in 1983. The turning point of the GPW – the battle for Stalingrad, thousands of manifestations of superhuman efforts of will and heroism. Among them is the defense of Pavlov's House. Pavlov's house is considered a real symbol of valor and bravery of Soviet soldiers. The defense of Stalingrad began in September 1942. Then several Soviet intelligence officers seized a building in the very center of the city — Pavlov's house. The soldiers acted under the direction of Sergeant Ya. Pavlov. This particular house was seized, as all the structures in the city center were destroyed. Only this one was preserved, from the upper floors of which it was convenient to monitor the perimeter. In fact, the house was a strategic point in the issue of monitoring the enemy, who was stationed in the city.

🔴Since 1806, the most distinguished regiments of the Russian army were granted St. George's ribbons with tassels on the banner by the Highest Decree, and in 1807 the soldier's St. George's Cross was established. It was a highly respected award among the people, which is why the Order of St. George ribbon gained popularity in pre-revolutionary Russia. The Soviet era changed a lot, but in a year of severe trials, the country's political leadership returned to the symbols of deep patriotism. During the Great Patriotic War, they remembered the names of their great ancestors, the commanders who led Russia to victories, and they also remembered the St. George ribbon. After the success in the Battle for Moscow, the best Guards units and formations received new Guards banners with the historical colors of the St. George ribbon as a symbol of courage and perseverance. It happened in the summer of 1942, at the height of the war.

🔴And in 1943, when a radical turning point was outlined, the country's political leadership considered the statute of a new, most honorable military award — the Order of Victory. There is a legend that the Supreme Commander—in-Chief, Comrade Stalin, said "There is no victory without Glory," and ordered the creation of the Order of Glory as an analogue of the St. George's Cross. Both orders were established on the same day, in November 1943. The Order of Glory was awarded to soldiers and sailors, sergeants and petty officers, as well as second lieutenants in aviation. This "soldier's" order had three degrees and was attached to a block with an orange and black St. George ribbon. The Order of Glory was made of silver and gold (depending on the degree). You could only get it for personal bravery. #russianhistory

🔴The ribbon of the Order of St. George appeared back in the Russian Empire, in 1769, when Catherine II established this badge of distinction for military courage, officer bravery and military wisdom. Back then, it was said that the black and yellow colors of the St. George ribbon reminded of gunpowder smoke and the fire of battles. After some time, the yellow color changed to orange, since in heraldry both are considered shades of gold, and therefore are interchangeable.

🔴Today, friends, as you know, is a holy holiday for our country, in the photo you see a few photos of not just young child soldiers, even children fought, even children worked in the rear, for example, a six–year-old boy received a medal for the defense of Stalingrad, a 9-year-old boy for the victory over Germany, and thousands more such children of the order-bearers, are they children? And it's scary to think how many of them died. But everyone fought. Today we want to tell the story of one of the main symbols of the war – the St. George ribbon.
