It's official! BSE's trading volumes dropped by more than 50% yesterday on weekly expiry day. The average # of contracts traded on weekly expiry days from Jan to July 2026 has been 52.8cr contracts. Yesterday, that number dropped to just 25.5cr contracts, a steep reduction of 52% within a few days of CAS going live! Secondly, even if you look at the options premium turnover - despite such huge premiums available throughout the day, the premium turnover was down by close to 25%. The market is shouting at everyone, option sellers are not willing to come and participate with such high uncertainty at the end of each day.
