🎉 Special UI/UX & Product Design Session for Nexus – Happening This Friday! At Nexus, we believe that inviting experienced seniors to share their knowledge and insights is just as important as learning from tutorials. We’re excited to announce a special session with Temesgen Ayele — a UI/UX Designer with 5+ years of experience in the design field! Temesgen will take us beyond simply turning designs into code and explore why design matters to developers and how understanding design can help us build interfaces that are functional, user-friendly, and visually appealing. During the session, we’ll explore: 👉 What is Product Design? 👉 Core Principles of Design 👉 Why Should Developers Care About Design? 👉 Tools Designers Use 👉 Design in the Age of AI 👉 What’s Next? — Exploring different design specializations and career paths 🗓 Date: Friday, August 14 2026 ⏰ Time: 7:00 PM / 1:00 LT 📍 Link: Will be shared soon LinkedIn │ Telegram │ Website │ YouTube #NexusTutorial

  • I would however say, the collaboration tooling is so so nice with the timeline comments and stuff. they just neeed to bring state based animations to it at some point tbh

  • The honest reality about animation on product rn is that its of two directions: - non interactive animations that need to be highly optimised, where CSS, webgl (libraries like animejs), are much better optimized than animated svg, code snippets, video and gif, which is figmas export mode rn. I have been seeing people saying it isnt very optimised. So for this, its only good to illustrate your ideas to a dev, similar to a prototype. - interactive, state based animations that need so much robusticity and controls (take rive as an example, it has changed so much in the past two years of its existence and continues to change because there is so much to that). figma motion currently doesn't give you the level of robusticity (if thats a word?) and tooling that rive does, but I could see it as a direction they could try in the coming months. for now, sticking to rive.

  • Regarding animate mode (motion): although it is a really good feature, I feel like the use case will be limited to just workflows where I will be animating small non interactive pieces I would okay with being a video. stuff that you would just see on landing sites for example. Although it is a very preliminary product rn, I am excited to see where it goes in the future

  • Hi everyone, Back from a sabbatical👋 Soooo finally got around to checking all the new figma updates... and I love how AI has been integrated as tooling and not as a standalone feature. ranking new figma features and products revealed on keynote based on how pivotal to my workflow they will be: 1. code layers: this is so so huge. have been waiting for this, I will probably ditch claude code and codex for this. Before this my workflow used to be that I do research on mobbin, do a first draft on claude code/ codex, import that to figma, make tweaks, back to claude code then send designer PR that the devs clean up and optimize. This cuts everything down by three orders of magnitude in that all that can now happen within figma. This primarily still bases on additions instead of fresh new product ideas. One concern here is definitely figmas own performance though... Idk how it will handle when you have 50, 100 code layers on a single canvas lol. Shaders: what a tooling. this is where creativity will truly get tested lmao. this essentially means the effects tab has every effect imaginable, and you can create your own too. Generative plugins: I have always had this problem where I look for a super niche plug in, that I end up not finding because almost often, no one runs into my schizo design problems. This single handedly can replace adobe illustrator in my workflow for all the niche changes I always resort to it for. Figma weave (prev. weavy): I used to use this all the time for gen AI workflow before they got acquired by figma. I am still very skeptical of gen AI being used for visuals, especially when mass generated. Majority of usecases for this will definitely be product shots and mockups. But I am excited where that will take us cause this is ground works stuff. One thing I will say is that dead internet theory will be accelerated lmaoo
