“On the Juche Idea” by Kim Jong Il Kim Jong Il’s On the Juche Idea (1982) explains North Korea’s guiding philosophy, Juche. It teaches that “man is the master of everything and decides everything,” meaning people are the creators of history when led correctly. The book stresses independence in politics, economy, and defence, and presents Juche as a distinct, self-reliant ideology rather than a branch of Marxism–Leninism. Hisashi Asō (May 24, 1891 – September 6, 1940) was a Japanese socialist, politician, and trade unionist. Asō moved towards collaboration with renovationist elements of the right-wing in the 1930s. Although condemning the Manchurian Incident as capitalistic and imperialist, he claimed that it had pushed the army in an anti-capitalist direction and became involved in the March Incident of 1931. After the release of an army pamphlet espousing anti-capitalist principles in 1934, Asō also become one of the strongest advocates of collaboration with the army along with his fellow party member Kanichirō Kamei. He similarly embraced the Konoe New Order as a method to achieve socialism. In 1938, Asō, Kamei, and Akiyama Teisuke worked together to draft plans for a new reformist, totalitarian political party to be led by themselves and Fumimaro Konoe.

In 1934 in the pmphlet Kokubo no Hongi to Sono Kyoka no Teisho, the army explains their view which strongly deprecates the capitalistic system which ruthless and selfish pursuit of profits led to an ever-widening gap between the rich and the poor creating aggravated class consciousness, and class cleavage. It shows that while the national wealth increased under the system, unemployment and distress increased ,the middle class declined rapidly, the small business and industrial operators and farmers became insecure; and the nation had its foundations weakened. Rigid state control of national economy, together with curbing of large accumulations of wealth, full development of the nation's natural resources and man-power, the "stablization of national livelihood," and a more effective development of national education and spiritual training in the interest of the nation constitute the avowed objectives of the army, whose ideology is anti-laissez fare, anti-individualistic, , and strongly socialistic.
