Important Information for International Students of USMU! Please pay attention to the vaccination schedule. When: August 18 and 19, 2026 (Tuesday and Wednesday). Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Where: USMU Health Center (5 Klyuchevskaya St., Yekaterinburg). On these dates, all international students who wish to get vaccinated can receive immunization under the Russian National Preventive Vaccination Calendar. The following vaccines will be available: Measles Rubella Hepatitis B Diphtheria Important conditions: Vaccination is free of charge for all international students. A mandatory medical examination by an infectious disease specialist will be conducted before the vaccination. Students from all academic years are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis— no prior appointment is required, just come during the scheduled hours. What to bring with you: Vaccination certificate (if you have one). Passport. Please note: having up-to-date vaccinations is a mandatory requirement for admission to clinical practice and training at clinical facilities of the university. We strongly recommend taking this opportunity to get vaccinated in advance. We look forward to seeing you.

Every international student is required to have a voluntary health insurance policy! Dear international students! Having a voluntary health insurance (VHI) policy is an important condition for a comfortable and safe stay in Russia. The insurance guarantees you access to quality medical care without additional financial costs in case of illness or injury, and also simplifies the completion of mandatory medical examinations required for international students. Please review the minimum requirements for a health insurance policy for the 2026–2027 academic year. We recommend that you make sure your policy meets the specified list. Minimum requirements for the VHI policy: OUTPATIENT CARE — minimum insurance coverage: 2,000,000 RUB. EMERGENCY INPATIENT CARE — minimum insurance coverage: 4,500,000 RUB. CONSULTATIVE AND DIAGNOSTIC CARE must include the following services: Preventive visits to specialists:  general practitioner (1 time), neurologist (1 time), urologist for males (1 time), psychiatrist (1 time), sports medicine physician (1 time). Laboratory diagnostics:  complete blood count, complete urinalysis, stool test for typhoid fever and intestinal infections, stool test for helminths and enterobiasis, syphilis test (RPR) — 1 time each. Biochemical tests: glucose, total cholesterol — 1 time each. Instrumental diagnostics: pelvic ultrasound for females, fluorography (or chest X-ray if unavailable) — 1 time each. Specialist consultations:  dermatovenereologist, dentist, gynecologist for females with oncocytology screening; initial and follow-up consultations; anthropometric measurements (height, weight, waist circumference) and cardiovascular risk assessment. Laboratory tests for infections:  HIV test, urogenital infections test, hepatitis B and C tests — 1 time each during the policy validity period. Additional coverage (optional but recommended): DENTAL CARE — minimum insurance coverage: 1,000,000 RUB. Please check in advance whether your policy meets the specified requirements. This will help you avoid unnecessary complications and complete all necessary medical procedures on time. It's no surprise that teachers often use this movie in their Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL) classes. It's a warm, human story that will help you understand the Russian soul. 🇷🇺 Today, July 8, Russia celebrates the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity! A holiday about the simplest and most precious things in life. What’s the story behind it? It goes back to the 13th century and two real‑life saints – Peter and Fevronia of Murom. Prince Peter fell ill with leprosy. A wise peasant girl, Fevronia, promised to heal him – but on one condition: he had to marry her. He agreed, but broke his word after recovery. The illness returned, and this time he kept his promise. They married and ruled together with wisdom and justice, staying faithful to each other through all trials. In 1547, they were canonised as the patrons of marriage and family. Since then, July 8 has become their remembrance day – and our national celebration of family bonds. 🌼 The symbol? The chamomile – a simple wildflower that stands for purity, sincerity and warmth. On this day, people give each other chamomile bouquets, make wreaths, and exchange little cards with flower motifs. 🏅 There’s also a tradition of awarding a medal “For Love and Fidelity” to couples married over 25 years – as an example of lasting devotion. June 22 in Russia: Day of Remembrance and Sorrow. What international students should know. Hello, friends! Today, June 22, is a significant date in Russia. It is the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow – the anniversary of the start of one of the deadliest wars in human history, the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). At exactly 4:00 AM, without a declaration of war, Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union. This war claimed the lives of approximately 27 million Soviet people. Today, we remember not only the soldiers who fell on the battlefields but also the civilians who died in bombings, those who were tortured in concentration camps, and those who perished from hunger and cold in besieged cities and on the home front. Why is it important for you to know about this day? Understanding this date will help you feel more connected to Russian history and culture. The memory of the war lives in every Russian family. If you have Russian friends or classmates, you might notice that they seem quieter and more thoughtful today – this is a day of quiet mourning, not loud celebration. What happens in Russian cities on this day? • Moment of Silence: At 12:15 PM Moscow time, life across the country pauses. Public transport stops in the streets, radio and television broadcasts go silent – a minute of silence is held in memory of those who died. • Flower-Laying Ceremonies: Memorial events take place throughout the country. Governors, veterans (who, sadly, become fewer every year), and ordinary citizens bring flowers to the Eternal Flame and war memorials. • "Candle of Memory" Campaign: On the night before and this evening, people light candles at memorials. The flame symbolizes the memory of every person lost.
