best book on storytelling! did you know that, in broad sense, nearly all Western narrative fiction shares a basic foundational movement - setup, conflict, and resolution? Shakespeare and Dostoevsky and even your beloved cinematographer Christopher Nolan use this core structure. while their actual storytelling frameworks differ sharply in execution, scope, and psychological depth, the core concepts like setup, conflict, resolution is very similar. The writer's journey, the book by Christopher Vogler, is one of the underpinnings of our storytelling lessons at ivybek admissions program. students use this lens to analyze actual personal statements that got students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds to top universities like Yale, Brown, Duke. i had long temptation not to share this book because it is so good, but i think you would benefit a lot from reading it. its 1% of what ivybek admissions program students learn. @admissions_help
