In what conditions and where are training sessions conducted? Our university has a full 50-meter pool, which can be turned into short yards if necessary. Since a lot of competitions are held in short yards, most of the training takes place in the short yard pool. We have approximately 50 swimmers on our team, and 10 divers. Based on the specific swimming style of each athlete, the swimmers are divided into groups of who swims short or long distance, and who swims crawl or other styles. In addition, there are doctors, nutritionists, psychologists, and other groups of people who assist our team in training and achieving goals and results. Under whose guidance does the training take place? Our team trains under the guidance of head coach Arthur Albiero, who has been a head coach for over 20 years. He is considered one of the most recognized and knowledgeable coaches in the United States. Many Olympic level athletes, World and American champions, and world record holders have trained under his guidance. He has several other assistant coaches who assist him in the coaching process. They in turn are organized by swimming styles, which has the most success in preparing groups of athletes for specific distances. Personally, I belong to a group of swimmers where I train under the guidance of Reed Foujan. It is under the guidance of these two coaches that I am preparing for the World Championships in Doha. You take part in the American starts, tell me please what level of fighting is there? In fact, the Americans are a serious competition in the world. During the whole season we have a lot of starts in which the universities compete against each other. These starts are held in one day, where you have to swim two or three distances in three hours. Many of the swimmers participate in two relays in addition to individual starts. Often these starts take place several weeks in a row, mostly every Friday or Saturday. In my opinion, it is because of such starts that there is serious competition among athletes in the U.S., as every university has a pool, and many tend to swim fast to get a scholarship to school. The NCAA conference that is held annually among the fastest swimmers in college can be compared to the European Championships, as every swim is a battle. Even when it comes to the junior varsity events, the level of performance they show can compete for medals at the American Championships. If you make it to the grand final at the NCAAs, you are more likely to make it to the grand final at the national championships as well.
It is known that Uzbekistan's national swimming team will take part in the World Aquatics Championships in Doha (Qatar). We interviewed Ilya Sibirtsev, a member of the national team, about preparations for the upcoming event: What is your training plan before the FINA World Championships in Doha? Since my training takes place in the USA, my training process is completely built in the university under the guidance of head coach Arthur Albiero. Since our team is quite competent and is among the top 10 strongest teams in America, the training is at a high level. In addition, we have other athletes in our team who are also training for the World Championships in Doha.
