The People Upstairs ~Roz Chast (با اثر ماتیس هم که آشنایید.) ••• "The People Upstairs." ~Ogden Nash The people upstairs all practise ballet Their living room is a bowling alley Their bedroom is full of conducted tours. Their radio is louder than yours, They celebrate week-ends all the week. When they take a shower, your ceilings leak. They try to get their parties to mix By supplying their guests with Pogo sticks, And when their fun at last abates, They go to the bathroom on roller skates. I might love the people upstairs more If only they lived on another floor.
Meat Love (1989) Jan Švankmajer
The coffee brews black, And laughter has fled. Wherever my footsteps may lead, The cup fills with dread instead.
نه راستش، بیشتر بیاد چارلن میفتم...
با این منتقد فیلم در The New Yorker at 100 همذاتپنداری میکنم. While I watch a movie, I take notes, furiously. The problem isn't taking them; the problem is reading them afterwards; after having written them in the dark. They say that people who drink three cups of coffe a day, prolong their lives by a decade. I think I'm verging on Immortality with the amount of coffee I drink. Without coffee nothing gets done.
By the way, the only reason I didn't give it a four was because the voices weren't synchronised. On second thought, it's Welles, I shouldn't care... I'll give it a four after I've rewatched it.
مطلقا هیچ ارتباطی هم باهم ندارند! (تاجایی که من میدانم البته...) Hamlet (1964) The Trials of Oscar Wilde (1960)

You guys slept through L'Avventura? And found La Notte boring? Oh, boy, would have been fun to rewatch Sátántangó (1994) with Welles and Hopper...

Welles: That's a great definition of an artist. Every artist makes what he does to find out whether he has something to hide or not. Hopper/Welles (2020)
Welles: Everything is done by organisation. Do you really think you can have a revolution on without organising it? Can you change the world by making movies or keeping quite? Hopper: (smiles) Jake, you're a stubborn old man. –He's Jesus. That's what I keep telling him. –Oh no. I'm Hamlet, man. I'm just Hamlet. –You've got it. You haven't read Hamlet. You said you weren't a reader. –I didn't read it. I just liked the title. Hopper/Welles (2020)
Welles: You'd rather make magic than be God? Hopper: yeah, there's no question. I wouldn't believe myself as God. –Well, there's a high probability that Gid doesn't and that's why he requires so many prayers. Like any other director, he needs yes-men. Hopper/Welles (2020)
Welles: What I think is that directors have got to be closer to poetry and further from creation. I'm worried about the word creation as applying as it does to the God-like attributes of the director, and poetry's a tough thing, you know. You can get into that kind of experience mystically, or through drugs or through any kind of act, but it is an act. It's the stuff of poetry, which means it's the stuff of magic, and therefore the director ought to be a magician and a poet rather than a god. Hopper/Welles (2020)
