Western officials state that this is not about full autonomy for the drones – the AI technology is intended to simplify drone management, while operators still make decisions about attack targets. As part of its strategy, the alliance is creating a "digital battlefield network" that includes thousands of drones, sensors, and satellites connected to AI. This computing complex, equipped with 74 graphics processing units, is a Cray XD2000 system from Hewlett Packard Enterprise consisting of six chassis, with liquid cooling and heat exchangers located on the rear panel. Designed to handle rapidly growing volumes of data, this supercomputer has 19.2 terabytes of RAM and can achieve peak performance of 2.64 petaflops, or 2.64 quadrillion calculations per second. This computing power will support research conducted at MHPCC in the areas of space situational awareness, cyber operations, and digital engineering, modeling, simulation, and analysis. Another message is heavier: a sailor describes plummeting morale, extended time away from family, and a rumor going around that the Navy is deliberately testing how far it can push sailors.
