The numbers are getting harder to ignore: • Tokenised RWAs have roughly tripled in the past year • On-chain RWAs crossed $30B by mid-2026 • Treasuries, private credit, commodities and equities are moving on-chain • The DTCC — sitting at the heart of US securities settlement — is testing blockchain-based workflows • Tokenised equities could enable faster settlement, fractional access and 24/7 markets But here’s the important part: Tokenisation alone doesn’t create liquidity. The next phase will depend on real secondary markets, regulatory clarity, compliant custody and genuine retail distribution. This is no longer simply about putting assets on a blockchain. It’s about rebuilding the financial system’s underlying plumbing. And if this trend continues, the biggest blockchain opportunity may not be crypto-native assets at all.
