AI spending among US companies is accelerating: The top 1% of US businesses spent a record median of $7,400 per employee per month on AI in July, according to Ramp. This compares to a record $650 per employee for the top 10% of businesses and $11.95 per employee for the median firm. Over the last several months, AI spend per employee has more than tripled for all these groups. The surge is widening the gap between categories, with the top 1% now spending more than 600 times as much per employee as the typical company. To put this into perspective, the top 1% of US businesses were spending less than $1,000 per employee per month on AI in early 2024. Wild stat: America's Strategic Petroleum Reserve just dropped below 300M barrels for the first time since the early '80s (down to about 243M after the Iran war drawdown). Experts, including a former senior energy advisor, say going this low risks damaging the underground salt caverns that store the oil. A GAO report even said officials are holding it together with "Band-Aids." The Energy Department disagrees, saying the caverns are fine, it is just the oil to water ratio shifting. Whoever you believe, here is the fact that matters: this reserve exists to protect the US (and by extension, global markets) from severe oil shocks, and it is being drained down to levels not seen in over 40 years. Cryprocurrencies are said to be safe. CryptoJungle reports: "As part of a broad-scale cyber incident that also affected other companies worldwide, a malicious actor gained unauthorized access to a supporting system used for data analysis and stole personal information of approx. 200,000 of the company's customers." 🇮🇳 INDIAN GOVT IS NOW GIVING A ONE-TIME WINDOW TO FIX UNREPORTED FOREIGN ASSETS. FAST-DS 2026 is a six-month scheme that lets eligible people report foreign income and assets they missed earlier and get legal relief after paying the required amount. It opens Aug 16, 2026 and closes Dec 31, 2026. If the foreign income/assets were never taxed: up to ₹1 crore → 30% tax + 30% extra = 60%. If the income was already taxed but the asset was not reported: up to ₹5 crore → flat ₹1 lakh fee. It covers foreign bank accounts, shares, securities, ESOPs, RSUs, overseas property and jewellery.
