Most students study Ethics like a subject. We are trying to make you experience it like a transformation. That is why we created: “IF KRISHNA TAUGHT ETHICS” Not as ordinary notes. Not as coaching material. But as a cinematic conversation between Krishna and Arjuna — where every ethics concept becomes alive. Most institutes teach Ethics through definitions. We teach it through Dharma, dilemma, psychology, governance, emotion, and consciousness. When Krishna teaches: • Integrity becomes a battle against inner corruption • Emotional Intelligence becomes mastery over self • Public Service becomes Karma Yoga • Accountability becomes Raj Dharma • Compassion becomes strength, not weakness • Ethics becomes practical, memorable, and deeply human And this changes everything. Because UPSC students usually face 3 major problems in Ethics: They memorize concepts but never truly understand them They cannot connect theory with life and governance They forget content because it never emotionally touched them This format solves all three. WHY THIS FORMAT CREATES CONCEPTUAL CLARITY: When concepts are taught through stories, dialogue, and symbolism — the brain stops “mugging up” and starts visualizing. You don’t merely read ethics. You SEE it. You FEEL it. You REMEMBER it. And what is remembered emotionally is retained permanently. A student may forget a coaching definition of integrity… But he will never forget Krishna telling Arjuna: “Integrity is when your soul does not need witnesses to remain truthful.” This is not information. This is imprinting. UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS FORMAT: • Cinematic Krishna–Arjuna dialogues • Story-based conceptual learning • Deep philosophical clarity in simple language • Emotional + intellectual retention • Ethics connected with governance and real life • UPSC concepts explained through Dharma and psychology • High recall value for mains answers and interviews • Creates original thinking, not robotic answers • Helps in examples, introductions, conclusions, and quotations • Makes Ethics spiritually engaging instead of mechanically boring This is not “notes.” This is the Bhagavad Gita of Ethics preparation. The goal is not merely marks. The goal is formation of thought. Because in UPSC — the person who understands ethics deeply always writes differently from the person who memorizes definitions. And the Board can feel that difference. Project Arjuna believes: “UPSC is not testing information. It is testing consciousness under pressure.” These notes are designed for that consciousness. If Krishna taught Ethics today… this is how He would

The Good Will Kant starts with a bold claim: the only thing in the world that is good without qualification is a Good Will. Talent, intelligence, and even happiness can be evil if they are used by a bad person. A Good Will isn't about what you achieve; it’s about your Motive. Even if you try to do the right thing and fail miserably, your will still shines like a jewel. For Kant, morality is found in the intent behind the action, not the consequences that follow. Duty vs. Inclination Kant makes a sharp distinction here. If you help someone because it makes you feel good or because you like them, Kant says that’s fine, but it has no moral worth. Real moral worth only happens when you do something because it is your Duty, even, and especially, when you don't want to do it. Imagine a man who is depressed and wants to give up, but he continues to help others simply because he knows it is the right thing to do. That cold sense of duty is the purest form of morality. The Shopkeeper Example Kant uses a famous example of a Shopkeeper who doesn't overcharge an inexperienced customer. If the shopkeeper is honest just to protect his reputation or keep his business growing, he is acting out of Self-Interest, not morality. He is doing the right thing for the wrong reason. To be truly moral, the shopkeeper must be honest simply because Honesty is a Duty, regardless of whether it helps or hurts his bottom line. It’s about integrity when no one is watching and there is nothing to gain. Categorical vs. Hypothetical Imperatives Most of our rules are Hypothetical: If you want X, then do Y e.g., If you want to stay fit, exercise. Kant says morality isn't like that. Morality consists of Categorical Imperatives: Do X, with no ifs or buts. A moral law is an Absolute Command that applies to everyone, everywhere, at all times. It’s not a suggestion or a piece of advice; it is a Logical Necessity that you must follow simply because you are a rational being. The Formula of Universal Law This is Kant's most famous test for morality. He says: Act only on that maxim which you can will to become a universal law. Before you act, ask yourself: What if everyone did this? If everyone lied, the very idea of truth would disappear, and lying would become impossible. Therefore, lying is logically inconsistent and forbidden. This test removes personal bias. You aren't allowed to make yourself an exception to the rules; if it’s wrong for others, it’s wrong for you. The Formula of Humanity Kant’s second version of the rule is about Respect. He says: Treat humanity... always as an End and never merely as a Means. This means you can never use a person like a tool or an object to get what you want. Every person has an Intrinsic Worth because they are rational agents. Even if using one person would save a million lives, Kant says No. You must respect the dignity of the individual. This is the philosophical backbone for the modern concept of Human Rights.
