UGC-NET June 2026: Re-conduct of English, Commerce & Sociology papers NTA conducted the UGC-NET June 2026 examination from 22 to 30 June 2026 across 87 subjects, for the award of Junior Research Fellowship, eligibility for Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD programmes. In respect of three subjects, English, Commerce and Sociology, NTA received several complaints regarding errors in the question papers. A committee constituted by NTA examined these papers and found factual, typographical and translation errors, misspelt names of prominent scholars, garbled book titles, defects in the stem wording of questions, grammatical, gender and number agreement errors, non-standard coined terms for established concepts, and repetition of a significant number of previously administered questions. Defects of this extent cannot be cured merely by dropping questions after the challenge process. NTA has therefore decided that these three papers will be re-conducted. Revised schedule👇🏻 English: 9 September 2026, Shift 1, 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Commerce: 9 September 2026, Shift 2, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sociology: 10 September 2026, Shift 1, 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon No additional examination fee will be charged from candidates of these three subjects. City, centre and admit card details will be notified separately on the official website. Results for the 84 subjects, for which the answer key challenge window opened today, will be declared as per schedule. Allocation of JRF seats and issuance of e-certificates for eligibility for Assistant Professor and for admission to PhD in these subjects will not be delayed by the re-conduct. For the three re-conducted subjects, the number of candidates qualifying for eligibility for Assistant Professor shall be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared in the June 2026 test or in the retest, whichever is higher. Subject-wise allocation for JRF, eligibility for Assistant Professor and eligibility for PhD admission will be done as stated in the Information Bulletin. The numbers already allocated for each subject shall not be reduced under any circumstances. NTA remains committed to conducting examinations that are fair, accurate and transparent. Candidates are advised to rely only on nta.ac.in and ugcnet.nta.nic.in and on official communications from NTA.

Q. Which among the following is/are CORRECT?

JKSSB had released the Health Department DV notice, but later deleted it. After that, many messages were received from aspirants asking whether the DV will be conducted on 18 August or not. We contacted JKSSB regarding the matter, and the reply received was: DV Notice will be issued soon, there are some other engagements this month also. As per this response, it is clear that a fresh DV notice will be issued soon. However, 18 August has not been officially confirmed yet. Therefore, aspirants should wait for the fresh official notice from JKSSB. The previously deleted notice should not be treated as the final confirmation.
