  • When your case of bulk peaches didn’t ship in your Azure order 😭😭😭. Azure is the only place I can get peaches that aren’t sprayed, local isn’t a viable option as they all use pesticides Was really looking forward to canning my annual cinnamon honey peaches…

In a well adjusted society there’s no “retirement.” When people a few generations back grew too old for hard labor they spent their days with grandchildren, gardening, cooking, telling stories etc. They weren’t off enjoying being finally "childless" or put into a retirement home, they were still valuable family members. 🤍

I’m not terrific at making things look pretty, if I’m being honest. I’ve had a lot of breadloaves that I’ve spent painstaking time scoring come out of the oven with their score completely blown out, I’ve had soggy cakes, I’ve forgotten to add salt to things. A lot of things that come naturally to other don’t to me—I have bad eyesight, horrible depth perception and some difficulty with fine motor skills (when I was a kid, it took me a lot longer to learn how to write, or to tie my shoes or ride a bike without training wheels, for example; I also stuttered a bit and still do if I’m stressed or tired). But despite all that, I love baking, I love my wonky, missshapen loaves, I love my uneven pie crusts and my amateur cake frosting. And over the years, as I’ve kept at it, the loaves rose better, and came out more delicious and professional looking from the oven, I’ve learned how to not have pound cakes stick in the pan, just how much black powder it takes to make a gothic black cake for a birthday (a lot 😭), and most importantly, I had fun, and I fed family and friends. I’ve had people tell me that I should sell my sourdough loaves and focaccias, but the truth is, I don’t want to monetize a labor of love ( no offense at all to people that do want to monetize their hobbies). I just want to bake in the quiet night of my kitchen while my baby sleeps. Anyway, if you’ve been thinking about picking something up, but are afraid that you won’t be good—get over it. You won’t be. Not at first. You have to suck a little bit before you get better. You have to have a freakout because your sourdough starter doesn’t smell right, you have to stab yourself with an embroidery needle five dozen times, you have to have accidentally left a shade-loving plant in full sun. Just do it. Don’t be afraid, the gods are with you. Hail Sif! Golden haired, paitient Lady of Wheat, who stood by through every burst bag of flour and every accidental replacement of corn starch for baking powder 😭. 🦉🌾🍞🥖

For those that don't know: I weave on a loom and sell my wares, which are posted on my telegram channel. This supplements my family income as a homeschool mom. I currently have three lightweight summer shawls available made from raw silk and organic cotton and hand dyed yarns. I'd like to find homes for them. I offer a sliding scale price point for our Folk to help make my work available to various people in various situations. The complete info for each shawl can be found on my Loom Woven channel. If this interests you or anyone you know, I'd really appreciate a visibility boost. Thank you! 🤍 https://t.me/LoomWoven

With Hollywood on track to bounce back to pre-covid levels of success, its more important than ever to realize that complaining online about the latest anti-White and subversive movie wont change anything We must build our own film industry to authentically tell our stories. The future belongs to those that create it, which is why I'm in the midst of developing my first feature length film. So be sure to give me a follow and support me on my filmmaking journey https://t.me/WOLFSHIELDfilms

  • ^true. After close to having my 4th baby, I am prioritizing rest this postpartum. I remember after I had my first, my midwife could tell I was trying to be new “super mom” and emphasized the importance of rest and healing and how it would impact my pelvic floor and subsequent pregnancies/birth, which I disregarded. After my 3rd birth, I definitely felt the effects of not allowing for adequate healing and even into my 4th pregnancy. In the past for me, I have not had the chance to properly rest due to my husband having to go back to work almost immediately, wrangling toddlers and a newborn, and no real family support. I remember when I traveled I internationally for work, one of the many common questions I got asked was “is it really true they expect women to go back to work 6-12 weeks after having a baby?” And in many such cases, an unpaid or partial leave from work for Mom or Dad. They were blown away it was true. In many other countries, the father is given paternity leave, mother’s are give mother’s helpers to come for a few hours a day during the “4th trimester”, which has to be amazing. Somehow in our culture rest has recovery is looked down upon. Going to work sick or bouncing right back is looked upon as a badge of honor. Truly resting is one of the most healing things we can do for our bodies.
