Student Founder Spotlight 7 Haroon Yasin – Taleemabad/Orenda (Georgetown University Qatar) Haroon started in August 2015 while pursuing his International Politics degree at Georgetown University in Qatar (Class of 2015), co-founding Orenda with fellow GU-Q student Ahwaz Akhtar. After teaching in Islamabad's slums at 18, Haroon discovered his passion for education and created Taleemabad , using cartoon characters and digital streaming to bring curriculum-based learning to underprivileged Pakistani children unable to attend formal classes. While studying at Georgetown, he developed the mobile app featuring Urdu-language content, making learning engaging and accessible. The platform gained 15,000 users initially, growing to 1.6 million app downloads and 8.5 million weekly TV viewers by 2020 when Pakistan's Prime Minister launched a nationally broadcast channel using their content.
