So, while I'm drawing a mini-comic for you, I decided to share how angelic halos work in my redesign AU. Let's go! First of all, a halo cannot be forcibly torn away from an angel unless the angel wants it removed themselves. According to this rule, Lute wouldn't have been able to rip off Vaggie's halo when she fell. Vaggie realized she was being thrown into Hell like trash just for showing mercy, so she got rid of her halo herself. As for Lucifer, the halo itself didn't matter much to him—the main thing was just not to be interfered with. Next, let's talk about halo placement. I came up with the idea that the lower a halo floats, the higher and more significant the angel's rank. Accordingly, Sera and Lucifer (the only high-ranking characters in Heaven I've shown so far) have halos floating right above their heads—especially Lucifer, who wears it like a crown. I also want to note that the crossed rings around some Seraphim aren't considered actual halos—or at least, not in the traditional sense. A halo is specifically what floats above the head, not something that replaces it. Now, how does a halo extinguish during a Fall? A halo is directly connected to the angel itself—not to their status or their wings. It doesn't go out just because someone's wings are cut off; it extinguishes the exact moment a fallen angel truly accepts that they've fallen—when they realize, "Damn, this is it." At this very moment, the halo goes out and becomes effortless to remove. For Lucifer, I think his halo disappeared after a few whole days after his Fall, once he finally accepted it. Vaggie, on the other hand, accepted her Fall almost instantly—what they did to her was so brutal (tearing off her wings and ripping out an eye) that she immediately realized what had happened and got rid of her halo right away. Now, let's talk about a few inconveniences of having a halo. They are somewhat rare, but they do happen: 1. Collisions: If an angel gets close to someone of a similar height or leans in, their halos can easily bump into each other. This can cause dizziness for a couple of minutes or a headache. It’s particularly inconvenient for romantic couples in Heaven, as their halos constantly collide—it’s unpleasant at best and painful at worst. 2. Weather Sensitivity & Shaped Halos: The second disadvantage of halos is that they react directly to bad weather. During storms, halos can focus weather energy and emit small electrical discharges. Speaking of shapes, uniquely shaped halos (like curly or stylized ones) are formed only by higher-ranking angels or those close to them. Take Lute, for example—she is close to higher angels like Sera, Emily, and Abel, and holds a key role as an Exorcist lieutenant. Because of this, her halo has a unique lightning shape! As a result, during bad weather, her halo produces much larger electrical discharges. My whole idea of halos giving off small discharges of angelic current is why, when Lucifer was captured by Vox and used as a power battery, the electrical discharges weren't particularly painful for him—according to him, it was just ticklish. Additionally, halos often react to magic spikes or outbursts of anger. A halo is directly fueled by an angel's power. Every angel has at least a small amount of magic to sustain their halo, even if it's too weak to be used in combat. Well, I'll wrap this up for today!
