  • The last talk/liquor tasting event of the "Smart Emigration to the Future"! Prof. Daniel Obenchain from the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen at Chto Delat Emergency Project Room entertained us with the talk: “Teaching Chirality to my Tinder Date” Synopsis: Can I flirt with my date and still talk about my science? Oh sure, I communicate my research well enough to publish scientific articles, present at conferences, and secure funding. But can I ever get a second date?!? Discussions with other scientists about my research are often easier than chats about my work with a romantic interest. Join me as we explore how a topic like chemical chirality can be shared with a non-scientist in a more fun and attractive way, while carefully navigating the bad forms of scientific communication.  Molecular chirality, dancing, drinking, snail sex, and unexpected performance by the Chto Delat group: all included!     "Voices of black holes: How the Einstein Telescope will shape the future of astronomy" by Dr. Mikhail Korobko at Chto Delat. Space-time, black holes and neutron stars, graviational wave telescopes, lasers, all of that you can learn from this talk! Mikhail Korobko is a theoretical and experimental physicist with a PhD in quantum optics and gravitational-wave detection. He is currently a senior research scientist at the University of Hamburg and a member of the LIGO and the Einstein Telescope collaborations. He chairs the LIGO Quantum Noise Working Group and the Einstein Telescope Observatory Design and Noise Budget Working Group. In 2024, he was awarded the Rudolf Kaiser Prize in recognition of his achievements as an outstanding young experimental physicist. As a member of the LIGO collaboration, he received the Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics for the first observation of gravitational waves. He has published extensively on quantum measurement, quantum optics, and gravitational-wave detection.   • Dr. Liana Savintseva (@ohmy.liana) at Quarteera. “Computational Electrosynthesis in the Landscape of Modern Chemistry: Understanding, Predicting, and Designing Reactions” Synopsis: What can computational chemistry tell us about electrochemical reactions—and where does it fit within the broader landscape of modern chemistry? Computational electrosynthesis brings together quantum chemistry, electrochemistry, catalysis, and materials science to explain reaction mechanisms, predict reactivity, and guide experimental design. In this talk, we will explore why electrochemical systems are particularly challenging to model, what makes the electrochemical interface unique, which approximations are used to describe the processes occurring there, and how computational methods can translate molecular-level insight into practical strategies for reaction design and development.   • HANSEL AND GRETEL LOST IN THE FUTURE Explore the places marked on the map and watch their AI interpretations — short videos depicting Hänsel and Gretel’s journey into the future. Danya Zinchenko’s media performance is scattered across Wedding — and you can experience it throughout the neighbourhood. Hansel and Gretel are lost in the future. To follow them, you’ll have to move through the city from point to point, with each location revealing another part of the story. What to do: Go to the project page and open the map: https://www.emigrationtothefuture.org/projects/hansel-and-gretel Click on the first point, walk to the coordinates, open the file linked there — and watch the video. Explore the places marked on the map. Each point represents a specific location from Hänsel and Gretel’s journey into the future. Click on a point to view a photograph of the real location, then click on the image to watch its AI-generated interpretation — a short video imagining what happens to Hänsel and Gretel there in the future. Then move on to the next point. The whole of Wedding becomes the stage.

    What is an ion? What is an ion trap? How can we use it for biology, chemistry, and quantum computing? All the answers for these questions are available in the lecture "The secret life of ions: From biomolecules to quantum computers" by Dr. Juliette Leroux from University of Hamburg. Synopsis: What do a tiny biomolecule and a future quantum computer have in common? Both can be explored using one of the strangest tools in modern science: an ion trap. By using electric fields to hold individual charged particles in place, we can study the molecules of life, control single atoms, and rearrange the building blocks of quantum technologies. In this talk, we will follow the surprising journey of ion traps—from understanding how molecules behave to manipulating the quantum world—and discover how one scientific tool can open doors to completely different futures.
