Kim Suh-young has the latest. Rescue efforts continue in Colombia three days after a powerful earthquake, even after the critical 72-hour window for finding survivors has passed. Colombian authorities say at least 281 people have been killed and around 3,970 injured, with 379 people officially listed as missing. The number of households damaged due to the earthquake is reported to be around 45-thousand. However, a civilian-run missing-person database puts the number of people unaccounted for at more than 4,200. Despite the passage of the so-called "golden time," when the chances of finding survivors become increasingly unlikely, rescue teams and volunteers are still searching through collapsed buildings and piles of debris. "If someone got stuck over there, I'm going over there. Sometimes they don't let me in because I'm not from an institution, I don't have a blue cross, or green or red, no, but we the elders have knowledge, we know what this is." While search teams press on through the ruins, thousands of displaced Colombians are being cared for at shelters set up across the affected region. In Pereira, a sports arena has been converted into a shelter, taking in dozens of families left homeless by the quake. "We have families who are being received and being attended to. They spend the whole night here. They are being cared for. We have doctors and nurses who look after them." At some locations, crews have begun removing rubble as searches continue, raising concerns that hopes of finding more survivors alive are rapidly fading. Rescue operations have been especially difficult in isolated areas however, residents refuse to wait digging through the wreckage with their bare hands, determined to reach neighbors and relatives trapped below. That same determination is now driving the next phase of the response, as authorities say recovery efforts will continue in the days ahead. 🎧 @eng_listening

In Russia, a Ukrainian attack on the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk has shut down two major grain terminals and damaged warships. Ukraine's security service says it struck a naval base with drones and missiles, and President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says two frigates, a landing ship and a corvette were hit. Russian officials say at least two people were killed in the attacks on Wednesday, including an 8-year-old child. The city's mayor said more than two dozen homes were damaged. Wheat futures jumped 3 percent after the attack as Russia is the world's biggest wheat exporter. In the United States, President Trump said on Wednesday that White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is stepping down at the end of the month. At 28, Leavitt is the youngest person ever to hold the job. She says she aims to spend more time with her two young children, and will stay on as an outside communications adviser to keep shaping Trump's "Make America Great Again" movement. In Spain, a total solar eclipse swept across the north of the country on Wednesday evening, turning day into darkness. Totality lasted less than a minute, just after 8:30​ in the evening. A solar eclipse is when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, blocking the light and casting shadow on the Earth. One viewer said the colours came back little by little first the reds, then the blues. Iceland also saw a total eclipse and large parts of Europe saw a partial eclipse. The last time there was a total solar eclipse in Spain was in 1912. In Austria, thieves have taken 210 small gold statues of Mozart from his hometown of Salzburg. Officials said on Wednesday only about a third of the 320 figures are left. The German artist who designed the polymer figures believes it was an organized theft rather than souvenir hunters. He planned to sell the statues for about 114 dollars once the exhibition was over. The remaining statues will be on display until August 30th. 🎧 @eng_listening

Spanish officials say at least 72 people died in last week's mass crossing into Ceuta, Spain's enclave on the Moroccan coast. This comes as five more bodies washed ashore on Sunday. More than 50-thousand people rushed the border by land and sea beginning Thursday last week. Some drowned. Others were crushed trying to climb a breakwater and a border fence. OPEC and other oil producing nations on Sunday announced they will pump more oil starting next month. OPEC-plus will allow a total increase in production of roughly 190 thousand barrels per day. This latest step finishes unwinding a cut of 1.65 million barrels that the group first agreed to back in 2023. In practice, this year's increases have barely reached the market. Wars involving Iran and Ukraine have disrupted exports out of the Gulf, Russia and Kazakhstan. The seven core members are to meet again September 6th. In Greece, two firefighting helicopters collided in mid-air west of Athens on Sunday causing one helicopter to crash. The helicopter's Danish pilot and a Greek fire service officer were killed. The other aircraft made an emergency landing. The fire they were fighting has destroyed more than a hundred homes. Investigators believe sparks from a private power line serving wind turbines started the fire. Two people have been arrested on suspicion of negligence. In the United States, wildfires have torn through more than a quarter-million acres of Washington state, forcing evacuations and cutting power to 60-thousand people. The governor declared a statewide emergency on Saturday. About 4-thousand personnel are fighting more than a dozen fires throughout the state. Taylor, the head of MI7, wants to insert agents working on the file undercover into the palace without the royal family being aware of the potential threat against them, the only two available positions being Protection Officer, assigned to Agent Wallace, and Royal Nanny, assigned to Agent Claire Champion. Claire does not believe she the best person for this specific undercover assignment in knowing nothing about children and raising such in a nurturing environment having been raised in an orphanage herself and having no children of her own or in her life, something to which MI7's case specific advisor Juliet Lansbury concurs, she who has trained and provided the nannies for the royal family for a generation. With no other agent as an alternative, Mrs. Lansbury has twenty-four hours to train Claire, who will go by the name Claire Carter, to be the proper nanny, the end goal, both as a nanny and as an MI7 agent, to protect Princess Elle and Prince Robert at all cost. Claire will discover that the biggest threats against her as a person are her charges, who have taken it upon themselves to prank their previous nannies to the point of they wanting to quit. The Princess and Prince have as their biggest ally their uncle, Princess Rose's younger brother, fourth in line Prince Colin, who does not live at the palace but visits frequently, he the head of the royal family's Christmas charity of providing toys to children at orphanages. Beyond the issues with the Princess and Prince which relates directly to Princess Rose's self assessment that she wants and needs to be a more present part of her children's lives, difficult with all her royal duties, Claire has the difficulty of dealing with Prince Colin in those nanny/agent duties. In spending time with them, Claire is able to break down the defenses of her two charges and their uncle, Claire and Colin who seem to be falling for each other. A problem arises when Taylor receives further evidence that Prince Colin himself may be that threat against the royal family, his own family. 🎧 @eng_listening
