EUROUZ held a meeting with representatives of JW Marriott Tashkent to discuss prospects for future cooperation and the development of a potential membership partnership. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on opportunities for engagement within the EUROUZ business community, participation in upcoming initiatives and events, and possible areas of cooperation aimed at strengthening connections between the hospitality sector and the wider European business community in Uzbekistan. The discussion also provided an opportunity to present EUROUZ’s activities, membership framework and platforms for business networking, visibility and institutional engagement. Yesterday, the EUROUZ Compliance & Corporate Governance Committee hosted an online webinar on the evolving EU sanctions framework and its practical implications for companies operating in Uzbekistan and across Central Asia. The webinar brought together around 65 representatives from EUROUZ member and non-member companies. The session opened with remarks by Atabek Alimdjanov, Secretary-General of EUROUZ, and was moderated by Alina Akchurina, Chair of the Committee and representative of Franklin Templeton. During his keynote presentation, Klaus Zillikens, EU Regional Sanctions Adviser at the EU Delegation in Astana, shared practical insights into the evolution of EU sanctions, recent developments and compliance expectations for businesses engaged in international trade and investment. The presentation was followed by a highly interactive Q&A session, during which Mr Zillikens addressed numerous questions submitted in advance and raised live by participants.
