There is a lot of truth in this statement. For the sake of convenience, humanity has walked far too long down a road that ultimately leads to a dystopian nightmare because it is easier to follow than to forge your own path. Because it is easier to comply than to put up a fight, easier to delegate than to learn, think and discern for yourself. It is easier to blend into the crowd than to risk standing alone, easier to accept the narrative than to question it, easier to obey authority than to challenge it, easier to be a sheep than a wolf. But everything comes at a price, and sheep eventually end up at the slaughterhouse. Our addiction to easy has made life increasingly hard. We accepted the unacceptable because resisting it was inconvenient. We complied with madness because saying no came with consequences. We relinquished responsibility because someone else promised to take care of things for us. We outsourced our thinking, our health, our children’s education, our money, our privacy, our security and, little by little, our freedom. Every time we chose convenience over responsibility, compliance over courage and comfort over principle, we surrendered another small piece of our sovereignty. And now we find ourselves living in a world where the absurd has become normal, surveillance is sold as safety, censorship as protection, dependency as convenience and obedience as virtue. This is where “easy” eventually takes you. Easy does not build character, courage or discernment. Easy does not lead to sovereignty or self respect, and it most certainly does not lead to freedom. We need to stop doing what is easiest and start doing what is right, what is true and what preserves our humanity and our freedom no matter how hard that might be.
