🇮🇳🇷🇺 Russia Sends Independence Day Wishes to India From Space Russian cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station have sent Independence Day greetings to India, celebrating the country’s journey from colonial rule to greater self-reliance. 🛰️ Pyotr Dubrov: “India broke free from colonial rule and embarked on a path of self-reliance and prosperity.” 🛰️ Anna Kikina: “India is very beautiful from above, but it is even more beautiful on Earth.” 🛰️ Andrey Fedyaev: “Long live India-Russia friendship!” The message stretches back to 1961, when Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space, visited India and met Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Today, India is pursuing its own human spaceflight programme, Gaganyaan, reflecting the country’s growing technological self-reliance. From Gagarin’s historic visit to India’s ambitions of sending its own astronauts into space, the story also reflects how India-Russia cooperation has evolved alongside India’s journey towards greater independence in space technology.
