The danger of feeling loyalty specifically is that feelings are convincing in the moment, they feel like truth, like certainty, like "this is who I really am." The moment you notice yourself thinking "I have to act on this because it's how I feel," that's usually the moment to pause and ask what you'd do if you were choosing from your values instead of your mood.

Imagine you're a ship captain who decides to be "loyal" to the weather whatever the sky looks like right now determines your course. Storm rolls in, you panic and turn around. Calm patch appears, you drift lazily off route. You'd never reach anywhere, because weather is real, but it's not information about your destination it's just atmospheric noise passing through. Feelings work the same way. They're real, they matter, they carry data but they're weather, not a compass. A feeling tells you something is happening in you, right now, often in response to something small, tired, hungry, triggered, or half-understood. It doesn't tell you what's true, or what you should do, or who you are. Being "loyal" to a feeling means letting the sky decide your heading
