#oc #Rashid 🗝For those who might be confused (lore drop): there are two versions of #Rashid, and both are valid, but they are completely different. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🎹🎹🎹🎹 I created him when I was in 10th grade as character design practice. The original Rashid Nazeri (just like me at that time) is a 16-year-old schoolboy. 🤩🤩🤩 The original story is simple and colorful: a typical coming-of-age plot about two artsy SpEd kids transferred to an ordinary public school for high school. Rashid has cerebral palsy and autism; Grace has autism and several learning disabilities. Rashid and Grace are best friends who always stick together. The plot is a collection of their shenanigans, taking place in an alternative universe in the 90s (the Beholder-based country of Valleverde, a counterpart to the Great Land of Ozeania). This story is mostly based on pop culture since it has zero ties to our world, treating Rashid, Grace, and the other characters at face value: two disabled teenagers having fun in high school and dealing with various troubles. Rashid and Grace are into art, music, and fashion, and they eventually make several nice friends. However, there is also Yugetta, who makes Rashid's life a living hell and splits them up. Fortunately, friends eventually make up and heal together. 🌸🌟 Basically, this story lacks a deep plot, but I like it because it is colorful, fun, and easy to twist in so many ways to imagine different scenarios, like "What if Rashid and Grace try creating a music band? What if they do this or that?..." 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🌟 The main story about Rashid, in which I have put the most effort, is much more complex than the original. It is a novel with several focal points and plotlines (Rashid, Ada, Nazia, etc.) stretching for over 20 years. It takes place in London from 1865 to the 1890s and focuses on Rashid's life journey: moving from Iran, his family surviving in England, his many misfortunes, his time in a mental hospital and escape from it, his love interests, marriage, and so on. 🍓🔪Rashid is usually depicted as a 30-year-old man in illustrations, but he can be of different ages. The story requires a ton of research, which I am actively doing, because it is rooted in Rashid's Iranian and Islamic heritage (I am literally studying the Middle East in university), Ada's Sudanese heritage, clash of Grace's Hong Kongan and English identity, Yugetta's...whole personhood... Everyone's backgrounds are so different. I am also planning to add several real historical figures to the plot, as well as Rashid's poems and illustrations; it is going to be my mixed-media magnum opus, and I am very driven to finish it. Just like the wide range of characters, there are many topics: alienation, religion(s), disability, family, sexuality, and self-perception, among others. 🔡⭕🔡🔡⭕🔡🔡🔡🔡🔡 Of course, it is far more important to me than the original story. 🌺 I hope this was at least a little interesting :)
