Job Title: Cybersecurity Specialist Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Specialist to protect the organization's systems, applications, networks, and digital assets from cyber threats. The role will focus on security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, risk assessment, and implementation of cybersecurity controls. Key Responsibilities Monitor systems, networks, applications, and security tools for threats and suspicious activities. Identify and manage cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or a related field. 3–4 years of relevant cybersecurity or information security experience. Strong knowledge of network security, vulnerability management, IAM, incident response, application security, and risk management. Experience with security monitoring tools, SIEM, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, and endpoint security solutions. Knowledge of Linux, Windows, and cloud security. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills. Lately, I've been thinking about the whole "master one skill vs learn many skills" debate. Imagine you're hired as a full-stack developer in a startup with only 5 people. Today you're coding, tomorrow you're handling social media, the next day you're editing a video, helping with marketing, writing content, talking to customers, or even setting up automations. In small teams, everyone wears multiple hats. Some people say it's better to master one skill and become one of the best at it. I agree. But I also think it depends on your goals. If you want fast growth, more opportunities, and faster income, being intermediate at many useful skills can be a powerful strategy. You become the person who can jump into different problems and help wherever needed. On the other hand, if you're willing to be patient for years and go really deep into one thing, eventually that expertise can create a huge breakthrough and put you in a completely different league. Personally, I'm more of the fast-pay + intermediate-at-many-things type 😂. I enjoy learning a bit of everything and being useful in different situations rather than spending years focusing on only one skill. What about you? 🚀 Upwork quietly released a new feature called "Work Now" on July 30, 2026. If you're struggling to land jobs, it might be worth turning it on. A while ago, every time a new JavaScript framework dropped, I'd jump in and try it immediately. 😅 But lately I've been a bit busy, so I still haven't had the chance to try TanStack Start. 😭 From what I've seen, it looks really interesting. It combines TanStack Router, React Query, server functions, SSR, streaming, and a lot of flexibility without forcing you into a full-stack opinionated setup like Next.js. It also seems to give developers more control over how they structure their apps and what tools they use. Now I'm curious... For those who've actually used it, is TanStack Start really better than Next.js from all perspectives (DX, performance, scalability, deployment, ecosystem, etc.)? Or does Next.js still have the edge in real production projects?
