#World_history #History 🔴GS1- Art and culture 🔴GS1- History ✅Gs-1 : World History- American declaration of independence A declaration is not merely a statement. It performs three functions: • Justification: It explains why an existing political order has lost legitimacy. • Mobilisation: It gives people a shared moral language to act collectively. • Judgement: It creates standards by which future generations can judge governments. All men are created equal. Government exists to secure rights. If government destroys rights, people may alter or abolish it. This transformed a colonial dispute into a universal political argument. Human beings possess inherent rights ↓ Government exists to secure those rights ↓ Government derives authority from consent ↓ If government destroys rights, people may replace it ↓ British rule has violated colonial rights ↓ Therefore, independence is justified ⚠️VK IAS subject wise channels - Click here

#Art_and_Culture #History 🔴GS1- Art and culture 🔴GS1- History ✅Birsa Munda- Click here 🅾️Q. Birsa Munda’s movement transformed Adivasi resistance from a local revolt into a wider assertion of identity, land rights and self-governance. Discuss. ⚜️First, it asserted land rights. The movement challenged encroachment on Adivasi land and later contributed to recognition of customary systems such as Khuntkatti, culminating in the Chotanagpur Tenancy Act, 1908. ⚜️Second, it defended Adivasi identity. Birsa was revered as Dharti Aba, and his vision located identity in ancestry, community, land and culture rather than religion alone. ⚜️Third, it articulated self-rule through the idea of disum, reflecting community autonomy and resistance to external domination. ⚜️Fourth, it shaped later politics. Dombari Buru became a symbol of resistance, and Birsa’s legacy influenced the Jharkhand statehood movement. ⚠️VK IAS subject wise channels - Click here

It was reigned by Kalinga from the early 5th century to the early 15th century. 🅾️ Eastern Ganga dynasty was constantly attacked by Muslim rulers in the early 15th century. 🅾️This kingdom prospered due to trade and commerce between different empires. This wealth was mostly used in the construction of temples. Their currency was known as Ganga fanams which was similar to the currency of Cholas. ⚠️VK IAS subject wise channels - Click here

#Art_and_Culture #History 🔴GS1- Art and culture 🔴GS1- History ✅Persion history 📌The assertion : Persianate culture in India was not a "foreign" imposition but a shared, prestigious, and highly adaptive toolkit for power, identity, and intellect. 🅾️Cultural Soft Power-transcended religion. Hindu kings (like the Vijayanagara lords) and Brahmin scholars (like Chander Bhan) adopted Persian dress and language not out of submission, but to participate in a sophisticated, globalized "high culture." 🅾️The Deccan sultanates—often framed as purely "Islamic"were deeply hybrid. 🅾️The story of the Travancore rajah swapping his Persian robes for British attire in his final years serves as a metaphor for the entire subcontinent. It signifies the moment when the "white man's clothes" (and language) became the new requirement for upward mobility and survival. ⚠️VK IAS subject wise channels - Click here

Artisans painstakingly hand-knot patterns on a base cloth (usually cotton with a zari border) before dyeing it in various shades. ⚜️Defining Feature: After dyeing and washing, the knots are untied to reveal intricate designs, some containing over 15,000 quirky white dots. ⚜️Time Intensity: Transforming a cotton saree into a sungudi takes more than 15 days. ⚜️Geographical Indication (GI): It was awarded the GI tag on December 12, 2005. Note that The Geographical Indications Registry falls under the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (Ministry of Commerce and Industry). ⚠️VK IAS subject wise channels - Click here

#Art_and_Culture #History 🔴GS1- Art and culture 🔴GS1- History ✅Hoyasala Architecture 🔗Context?- UNESCO - Karnataka’s Sacred Ensembles of Hoysalas 📍My analysis from these points presented here in this article?- WHAT MAKES HOYASALA temples special? 📌Their style reflects political, material and religious ambition. The Hoysalas were rising rulers, not an old empire. They needed legitimacy across a competitive Deccan. Cholas could project power through towering granite scale. Hoysalas used complexity as their weapon. They built many temples across regions, not one grand capital monument, to spread acceptance. Surrounded by strong artistic traditions, imitation was risky. So they created a distinct identity. Place a Hoysala temple beside a Chola or Chalukya one. The contrast in plan, surface and sculptural density is immediate. 🎖Join @historyhighlights for high value history snippets from news @upschighlights - Relevant hashtags for Prelims- Click here 🎖Please Subscribe : Youtube.com/vikaskanukollu

#Art_and_Culture #History 🔴GS1- Art and culture 🔴GS1- History ✅India- Malaysia- Diaspora ⚜️Ancient Phase (Before 1st Century BCE): Maritime trade routes linked the Coromandel Coast to the Strait of Malacca and ports like Kedah. South Indian merchant guilds established semi-permanent settlements, bringing Hindu-Buddhist traditions long before colonial treaties. ⚜️Colonial Phase (19th - Early 20th Century): The British transformed Malaya’s economy through rubber estates, tin mines, and railways. Created labor demand- leading to large-scale migration from the Madras Presidency. ⚜️The Kangani System: Unlike the state-regulated indentured system, this relied on a Kangani (Tamil for "one who oversees") a foreman from the same village who recruited kin -often led to debt-bondage. ✅Gs-2 : IR angle- Strait of Malacca is imp- 60% of India's trade passes through this bottleneck- Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) ➡️Join : @historyhighlights for History news. 🎖Please Subscribe : Youtube.com/vikaskanukollu

#Art_and_Culture #History 🔴GS1- Art and culture 🔴GS1- History ✅Somnath temple - It is a symbol of 1,000 Years of Resilience (1026–2026) 🅾️In January 1026, Mahmud of Ghazni launched a barbaric invasion on the Somnath Temple.UPSC may confuse us by replacing Ghazni with Ghori. Remember that Ghazni was primarily interested in plunder/wealth (17 invasions), whereas Ghori aimed for political establishment. 🅾️In medieval India, destroying a temple was a political act to signify the total defeat of the local ruler, as the deity was seen as the true protector of the land.Somnath is traditionally considered the first among the 12 Jyotirlingas across India ⚠️Jyotirlinga network creates pan India cultural integration-they represent the "radiant light" of Shiva, reinforcing the pan-India cultural thread (Bharatvarsha)- read about shiva temples in India- click here ➡️Join : @historyhighlights for History news. 🎖Please Subscribe : Youtube.com/vikaskanukollu
