  • "Stacy, where are you?" 🤔 I'm here, guys 😁 Grateful to each and every one of you who's still following the blog. A lot has happened over these months: 🟠 I've been snowed under with work – I don't think there will be any slots available until August. That said, I'm thinking about new projects for September (the speaking club will be back). 🟠 I've taken an exam in Chinese and passed it 🥳 🟠I've taken up a brand-new sport 💪 🟠I'm getting ready to move to another apartment. 🟠I've just been soaking up the sunshine and enjoying lush summer greenery ☀️ How have you been?☺️ Put one of the following reactions: 💅 - chilling 🤪 - working hard Your comments and reactions are important 💛

  • The Venus flytrap, fully explained 💪⬇️ The diagram shows how small and large Venus Flytrap species deal with small prey. Overall, both species use the same mechanism of catching prey: when stimulated, they snap shut. However, while small traps remain shut and digest small insects, large ones reopen, thus releasing the small prey to avoid wasting digestive energy. Both Venus Flytrap species have a similar structure. The traps resemble clamps, consisting of two leaves attached to a stalk, which can snap shut or open. Along the outer edges, the leaves are lined with spikes that look similar to interlocking teeth. On the inside, they are covered with trigger hairs that produce an electric charge when an insect brushes against them, causing the plant to close its “jaws”. In a small flytrap, the trigger hairs are located close to each other, so a small insect touches several at once, causing the trap to snap shut. First, it closes loosely, with its teeth not meshing fully. The insect, pressed against the walls of the trap, struggles to escape and inevitably continues hitting and stimulating trigger hairs. At this point, the trap recognizes the insect as real prey rather than a false alarm, and releases digestive enzymes. Finally, it seals tightly to digest the prey completely and absorb the nutrients. A large Flytrap also shuts if stimulated by a small insect. However, as the insect is smaller than the gap between trigger hairs, it can move between the hairs without touching them. Without sufficient stimulation, the trap does not register the insect as prey worthy of spending digestive energy on and reopens, letting it free. #stacy_writing #task1
