Most people think reinvention has an expiry date. This story proves that belief wrong. At 47, after 20+ years in insurance, banking, and finance, Adv. Sandeep Sheregar chose to start from zero as a first-generation litigator, with no safety net. Today, he leads a multi-law practice with offices in Mumbai & Navi Mumbai, appears before top courts and tribunals, and mentors the next generation of lawyers. This is not a “late start” story. This is a clarity + courage + skill-building story. 🎥 Watch this Pan India Superstar story. It will seriously change how you think about your own career timeline. 👉 https://youtu.be/4Eta9OqkJLg

Makrand Chauhan, LawSikho (June 2021), a 2018 graduate from Haryana, secured the position of a patent analyst at R.K Dewan & Co. And there are many others. While they may not be household names, they are big service businesses on the hunt for talent. For example, small boutique firms like Sagacious IP have 99% US clientele, 500+ member team in India with the marketing and sales team in Canada, and have 60-70 cr revenue. They agreed to hire trained patent professionals from science and engg. background from us.

We have seen what has been possible in India's IT industry which has hired techies and computer science geeks in lakhs - the next revolution for science and engg. is waiting to happen, but this time it will happen for patents. Great time to ride the wave for people in automobile, pharma, biotech, chemical, mechanical, hardware, electronic circuits, hi-tech industry and even pure sciences. Start early, get an advantage and dominate your career in the next 5-10 years.

As you learn the skills and build a track record, annual increments are often disproportionate and regularly beat industry standards by miles as practical experience is invaluable given the industry demand. We also found a hack to reduce the time required to get experience - once you learn how to perform 3-4 tasks, just help a few US or Indian patent agents on the side with a trial task, like writing a report or a USPTO patent search to show them what you can do. You could use it to crack interviews for office jobs (India) or remote jobs (US) that pay 2-3x of entry level salaries. Very rarely do we see such remarkable aberrations in the job market.

However, not a good idea to get these jobs as the low base pay restricts you to a perpetual karmic cycle of low increments, especially if you can upskill in 3 months. Instead, if you develop some skills beforehand and build a small track record, you could earn 2x-3x more than the base salary, and get anywhere between 10-15 LPA per year. It is also a great idea to crack an exam called the Patent Agent Exam, which enables you to easily get jumps of 100%. It is possible to do this in just 3 months of training as you learn how to do the work of a patent analyst and get certified. Nine of our learners, who had joined us in September 2024, passed the Patent Agent Exam this year. You too can do it too, if you follow our guidance and time-tested strategies.

  • Here is an example of how many patent analyst jobs are currently available in India just on Naukri.com: URL: https://www.naukri.com/patent-analyst-jobs

  • Patent firms in India are hiring for this reason. Due to abject scarcity of skills amongst freshers but a very high demand, they have been even paying 3-7 LPA to freshers with zero patent skills and providing extensive training (in-house R&D teams of companies pay 30-40% more). If you are already trained in this work, your starting salary can be much much higher.

  • 40% global patent work is being done from India. This is an industry which first hires people, pays them, trains them, then gives them awesome increments, especially engineers. If you have a science & engg background but not into coding or software development, and you don't want to write academic research papers, or work in a factory, but want a high-paying desk job, then this could be your jam: Work as a patent analyst.

  • Indian patent firms have a desperate need for talent given massive demand and rise of patent applications in the US. 95% of Indian firms are catering to US clients for the time being, especially in new industries such as AI, IoT, drones, apart from traditional industries.

  • One year ago: No clarity. Today: A global career. Her story proves: ✅ You don’t need a law degree ✅ You don’t need years of experience ✅ You don’t need to wait to pass exams to start earning You need a roadmap, skills, and the right mentorship.

  • But here’s what makes her story powerful: She started earning before becoming a Patent Agent. She began freelancing, got her first project worth ₹3,000, and slowly built visibility on LinkedIn. Soon, she was working with clients from the USA, Australia, Philippines and Czech Republic — handling patent searches, drafting support, and USPTO work. She earned $3,000+ from freelance patent work without a law degree. While law firms offered her ₹25,000–₹30,000/month, she chose freelancing — because she was already earning ₹50,000+ per month independently. Today, she works with global clients and is building her own IP practice.

  • Meet Muskaan Rastogi from Lucknow. A 2024 MSc (Molecular & Human Genetics) graduate, she was staring at job offers of ₹15,000–₹20,000/month with no growth. She had never heard of patent careers and had never met a patent professional. Out of curiosity, she joined a LawSikho bootcamp in August 2024. That one decision changed everything. For the first time, she understood how the global patent system works, how Indian professionals can work with international clients, and how patent careers are structured. She had just 3 months to prepare for the Patent Agent exam. She cleared it in her first attempt.

  • Then join our bootcamp on 13th Dec @ 2pm. Live only. No recording available. Register now, if you haven’t already: https://lawsikho.com/how-to-be-a-patent-agent-examiner-or-analyst-in-india?p_source=tele_warm

  • Guess what, the revolution has already begun. The government is encouraging the revolution by reducing the average patent grant timeline from 51 months to a fraction of it, in line with Japan and the US. Today, you have the time to jump on the bandwagon. Do you want to learn how you can do it? Want to know how you can seize this massive opportunity?

  • From local success to global leadership. But their strategic advantage must be protected through patents, else immoral actors and foreign corporate vultures might kill it. As the world looks for alternatives to China, it’s the ideal time for India to take leadership in global manufacturing. True leadership in manufacturing requires cutting-edge innovation and legal protection through patents. From the land of BPOs & jugaad, we could birth the next hi-tech revolution back home. From selling generics across the world to beating the Pfizers and Novartis in their home turf But patent expertise is going to be at the forefront of this revolution.

  • The power of Indian JVs was first realised with Bosch India being a force in its own right, as compared to Bosch Germany. On the side, millions of Marwari, Baniya, Gujara, ti, and other traditional businessmen continued to do dhandha in the grey market, to avoid paying taxes. Although they managed to ensure a profit margin in every deal, thinking of long-term investments and strategic advantage was out of scope, owing to financial constraints. We had grown up in financial scarcity & opportunity scarcity, not in abundance, building a business out of breadcrumbs, literally. The ut pandemic, lockdown, and UPI caused a U-turn in mindset, leading to most of the SMEs opening bank accounts, disclosing income, and paying taxes. The same businessmen realised the firepower available through private equity, venture capital, joint ventures, R&D investment, and IPOs. Now they can dream of a global vision, powered by breakthrough innovation.
