Hey everyone! We’re currently working on something quite different from the kind of productions we usually do at Legacy. This December, we’re developing our first dining theatre production, Ellinor. Dining theatre has been gaining popularity around the world, bringing food and live performance together to create a different kind of experience for audiences. For Ellinor, we’re bringing together storytelling, dance, live singing and food to create an immersive world where the audience doesn’t just sit and watch a performance, but gets to experience the story unfolding around them. And we’re currently casting dancers for our first prototype! Because we’re developing this for the first time and working within a pretty short creation period, we’re looking for dancers who are technically strong, can pick up choreography quickly and are comfortable adapting as the work develops. But we’re also looking for more than just strong dancers. We want performers who are confident in expressing themselves, who can draw people into their world and make an audience feel something through the way they move and perform. You won’t always have the distance of a traditional stage between you and the audience in this format. At times, they’ll be right there with you. So if you’ve always wanted to explore performing beyond just choreography and experience something different from the usual dance performance, we think this could be a really interesting project to be part of. We’ll be figuring out a lot of things for the first time too, and you’ll get to be part of shaping what this experience eventually becomes. And even if you don’t think this casting is for you, it would really help us if you could share this with dancers outside of the Legacy community too. Our hope is that this can eventually grow beyond one production and become another platform for local artists — dancers, singers, actors and other creatives — to find more opportunities to perform and create work here in Singapore. Hi everyone! 👋 Over the past few years, we’ve had the opportunity to bring in international choreographers for workshops and intensives. While these experiences have been incredibly valuable, one thing we’ve noticed is that they’re often over just as dancers begin to build momentum. It got us thinking “What if dancers could continue building on that momentum through a longer-term training programme?” We’re currently exploring the idea of a structured mentorship programme, where dancers train consistently under a local instructor while receiving regular mentorship from an international choreographer throughout the programme. The idea is to combine the consistency of weekly training with the fresh perspectives and guidance that international faculty bring, creating a more progressive and sustainable learning experience. At this stage, we’re simply trying to understand whether this is something the dance community is looking for before we invest time into developing it.
